Song Writing became my Passion according to Prophecy
When I paddled my kayak toward the eight foot standing waves in the Five-Finger-Rapids of the Yukon, I cried out to God whom I did not know, with faith I didn’t know I had.
Then, on top of the third wave, I got hit by a cross wave and capsized- but as my kayak dug deep into the next wave, I got turned upright again! Still today I have no logical explanation for this. This event has shaped my concept and attitude forever.
Several years later while I attended a church service in Campbell River, the evangelist Don Brown gave his Testimony that touched my soul. Don also sang several great songs and I remember his wonderful voice.
When Don gave an altar call, I rushed forward to receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. After he had led me through the sinner’s prayer, tears of Gratitude streamed over my smiling face. I felt warm waves of energy going through my body and I noticed perfect peace and Love to God and all creation.
My tears kept flowing and my body started to shake when Don Brown prophesied amazing things:
God will change your life and open new doors for you. He will give you the gift of song writing, composing and singing new songs for His Glory. You will receive total healing and pray for the salvation of others. Yes, God will make many miracles in your life. He’ll give you peace beyond understanding and you will lay hands on the sick and they shall recover! -
Some elders also prayed for me. My tears kept flowing and I was unable to speak. One of them said “Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.”
I also remember somebody prophesying: “The good works God has started in you, He shall complete.”
After the service Don had to leave. I wanted to thank him for everything but I could not speak a single word and my tears were still flowing for a long time.
Less than a year later, two instantaneous healing miracles happened to me and one to my wife after I had laid my hand on her.
While I was working in a saw mill I got hit by a fourteen foot plank. (a two by six) This heavy board was catapulted from a jammed sorter and struck my right cheek bone. I fell to the ground about ten feet from where I had been standing. Two other workers rushed toward me to help. But to their surprise I got up and continued to work. When they checked my face for broken bones, they didn’t even find a swelling!
I still remember that I had no pain at all and that warm waves of energy gave me extra strength. I kept track of a total of sixteen miracles that I all included in my testimonial.
My life became more colorful with losses and changes and I soon realized that life is a learning experience.
After we had moved and settled in Victoria, on Vancouver Island, I began writing Gospel Songs and my voice became much better.
In church I had been called forward to sing some of my songs at least once a month in the following year and I wrote many more songs.
On one morning, when I woke up, I had a new melody in my head and I quickly recorded it on my tape recorder. Since I did not have any words for it yet, I sang it in an unknown language that sounded like Italian but it was not.– At about four A.M. I had completed the lyrics.
The song’s title is: If Your Soul is Like an Island.
Out of sixty-two songs I have selected my best thirteen and recorded them in the studio of a Christian brother. Greg Vaughan created beautiful orchestrations and each one was different from the others.
“Is the number thirteen not an unlucky number?” somebody had asked me once.
“If you believe in witchcraft, this might be”, I said, “But if you think of Jesus Christ and his twelve Disciples, it certainly is a good number of sound tracks for my CD.” He smiled and saw my point.
When my voice had improved so much, I realized that all prophecies of the evangelist Don Brown had come to pass. I am truly grateful for all this and I find new meaning in the scripture:
Know that all things are possible for him that believes.
P.S. I heard that one woman’s life was changed from suicidal to grateful in a bible study group in Prince Rupert, after listening to my recorded songs.
She broke down in tears and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
When I had heard about this, I was overwhelmed with joy that my songs had made a difference in somebody’s life and I thanked God for His precious gift.
