Sickboy is a garage folk/punk trio that plays original, overdriven music with passion and poetry.
Sickboy was formed by singer/guitarist Mark Spence in 2001 in Atlanta, where they left behind a quickly forgotten legacy of kicking around, playing nearly every venue in town, replacing drummers, never getting a gig in Athens, getting nowhere, releasing singles, shouting at the top of their lungs, releasing an EP, and always writing new material.
After Mark got tired of 5 years of beating his head against a wall, he untangled himself from the kudzu and wound up in Australia in January of 2006, where he started putting a new trio together, and that has made all the difference in the world.
Touring behind the previous EP, VANITY & VELOCITY, took them to most of the major cities around Oz, and now their latest offering, WATER NEVER WAITS, should keep them going for a while longer. Sickboy is a band that wants everything, expects nothing, and is getting close to both. Here''s some reviews for you critical types...

Billy Bragg was once called the one man Clash well Sickboy could well be the three man Billy Bragg (''Coughing Fits'', ), the three man Bob Dylan (''Bellevue''), an Australian Clash (''Sea Shanty'') or even a garage folk The Thrills (''Big Kicks'').

SCOTT DOOLEY (Triple-J)-- I like this song ["Flying"]. It reminds me of those 60''s beat bands from England who had one song and got to open for The Beatles. It''s a raw recording but that doesn''t take away from a pretty good pop song. (1 August 2006)
THE HYPE REPORT (Des Moines, Iowa)--This band should soon start buzzing harder than Paris Hilton at her 13th birthday party. My boy Yomp of Back Bone Shiver (burr..) turned me on to them. He said in his Mancurian accent "This new band is tops, honest they are" So I listened and they are. Heavy heavy guitar, it sounds like the Strokes went back in time found the Hooters beat them up took they''re instruments then had Rick Ocasek produce them. Did I mention how much I loved the quitar? Oh and my new favorite line from a song is "you pissed on my shoes and told me it was rain" from the Sickboy song Pale I''ll have more on these guys A.S.A.P.
