Four decades of songwriting influenced by 34 years in military uniform provides a look at the world, transformed into song, unmatched in the last 20 years. With influences that range from Buffalo Springfield through Motown (with stops at Eddie Raven, Marshall Tucker and Toby Keith) that artistically fuses a unique sound of country rock, soul and folk.

Steve discovered music in his early teens while living in Tripoli Libya. Groomed on the Beatles, Ventures and Stephen Stills he developed a style of edgy rifts and smooth cord progressions. His musical interest was enhanced with the infusion of musical styles from friends of various cultures and backgrounds in his international community.

After high school graduation in 1969, Steve entered the Marine Corps and spent a year tour of duty in Viet Nam as a grunt with the Fifth Marines. Under combat conditions and hours of boredom, he developed his love for writing and a style that blends effortless with his music. The songwriter was born.

Steve graduated from college in 1976 and accepted commission in the Marines with the offer to attend Naval Fight School, Pensacola Florida. A rated Marine Pilot, he saw action around the world to include a tour in Beirut, Lebanon. Subsequent to this Beirut tour he was assigned as a liaison officer to the Army 82nd Airborne and participated in the invasion of Granada. After his Army tour he transition to the OV-10 Bronco and once again was deployed around the world.

Steve left active duty in the mid eighties and joined the Ohio National Guard. He had some quiet years, though no less exciting than combat missions, he chose a civilian career in helicopter medical evacuation. He was ordered to active duty during Desert Storm and performed with the Ohio Army National Guard. After Desert Storm he was released from active duty (1992) and returned to his Lifeflight career.

His quiet years were again interrupted with the attacks of 9/11. He was ordered to active duty and has spent the last two and a half years working in the Pentagon, supporting Army Soldiers in their battles in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Colonel Jacklin''s music is drawn from years of experience with multiple external sources that provide a repertoire of over 500 songs. His combat experience has produced meaningful lyrics that include returning WIA Veterans (Bakersfield), fateful encounters (Rather be Lucky Than Good) and the price of freedom (Bill of Sale). His emotional ballads such as Didn''t Love Her Enough, Great American Romance and For the First Time touch the soul. The music moves forward with Baby Boomers and a shot at the global economy (A Day On The Farm) then builds to a crescendo with a beautiful spiritual, the Walk.

A StoryTeller''s Journey is a trip through four decades of life, love, politics and war - sometimes all interchangeable.
