Details:
"Back2theFaith," Genesis to Revelation, is a journey from the Songwriter''s early days of unbelief to a faith realized. The 70''s Easy Listening Pop/Rock Sound blended together with passionate vocals, compelling lyrics and heartfelt arrangements that deliver a powerful message of faith, hope & encouragement.

Dave Pfau is a Singer/Songwriter/Worship/Leader with the 70’s Easy Listening Folk/Pop/Rock sound and vocal style of Chad & Jeremy, Peter & Gordon, Bobby Vinton, and Chris Tomlin. His guitar style is similar to that of Don McLean, Glen Campbell & Steven Curtis Chapman.

Born in Santa Clara, California, the son of an accomplished violinist and the grandson of a LA stage musician, Dave began his music training at the age of 9. He performed in the school orchestra until the age of 13. He had just turned 14 when “The British Invasion" in music began. Television & radio airwaves were flooded with a new sound. Mop-head, long-haired guys in suits with electric guitars sang songs with simple, but thought provoking lyrics that called out to new generation of young seekers. Dave Pfau was one of them. He traded his Mom’s violin for an electric guitar.

With songbooks and chord charts from ‘The Beatles,’ ‘The Dave Clark Five,’ and ‘Gerry & The Pacemakers,’ he learned to play the guitar. Soon Dave discovered the music of ‘The Moody Blues’. He said, “Their new sound & style, fresh with orchestra arrangements to haunting melody lines and questioning lyrics, just struck a chord in me.”

About the time that ‘The Beatles’ had released “Sergeant Pepper''s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” Dave began a search for a deeper, and more meaningful life. Caught-up in the 60’s culture, he commented, “I began listening to music under the influence of mind altering drugs.” Even though this took music to a deeper and expanded experience, he soon realized that this was not the path he wanted to continue on. “I knew I was going on a downhill path with a real dead end. I was searching for something more meaningful in life. I just did not know what it was.”

In 1968, with the war in Vietnam raging, he decided to join the U.S. Coast Guard. After returning from a specialty school in New York, he met up with his long time friend & classical pianist, Ken Teel. He commented, “I could see that Ken was different from the last time that I had seen him. Something had really happened to him and I wanted to know what it was.” What Ken shared with him would dramatically change his music and his life. In the Summer of 1969, Dave Pfau became a Christian. “I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord & Savior." This relationship took Dave and music in general, to an intense Spiritual level, and his music & songwriting to higher call.

In 1972, after being discharged from the service, he joined “The Revisions,” a Southern Gospel Group that ministered in churches, in concert, and to those in jail & juvenile hall. He said of those times, “I saw first hand how music could open up hearts and touch people with the Good News of God''s Love.”

After 3 years of working during the week and traveling & ministering on the weekends, Dave felt it was time to take a break and reflect on a calling he was feeling deep within his own heart. It was in that transition time that Dave began writing songs and music based on his own life experiences, his conversion and continuing relationship with God. 1980 saw the release of Dave’s first album, “Loving Reflection.”

A move to Mendocino County, California, brought the opportunity to join the “Majesty Music Ministries” team, a non-profit organization that produced a weekly radio program and sponsored local concerts & events. “Producing a radio program in the early days of Contemporary Christian Music gave me access to most of the music and artists of that time.” Michael W. Smith, Barry McGuire, Joe English, Chris Christian & Bob Ayala were just a few of the people that Dave had the opportunity to meet or do an interview with for “The Majesty Radio Program.” When asked, Dave said, “I guess the one person who''s music meant the most to me at that time was Keith Green. I got to see him at “Jesus West Coast” in Santa Rosa. That was just about a week before the fatal plane crash that killed him, his pilot, a missionary & four children, including two of his own. The news of the tragedy broke all of our hearts. We just had to do a radio program totally dedicated to Keith, his life and his music." The program was broadcast locally on KIAH FM 103 and was played at his “The Last Days Ministries” Outreach in Waco, Texas.

Soon Dave was leading worship at church and doing concerts through "Majesty Ministries." Through the years he joined the “Mendocino County Promise Keepers Praise Band.” He later formed the trio, “Turning Pt.” featuring Cheri Alcorn & Audrey Dick. The group did worship services & concerts and had the opportunity to open for Chuck Girrard of “Love Song.” That Band was one of the first Christian groups in the ‘Jesus Movement’ that swept through Southern California and beyond. Later that year, "Turning Pt." opened a concert headlined by popular Singer/Songwriter Jaci Velasquez.

Dave has spent the last 10 years working on his latest CD, "Back2theFaith," Genesis to Revelation. “I have been writing songs for this CD since 1975. Each song is like a chapter in a book. From The Creation soundtrack, to the Birth of the Messiah, The Redemption of Mankind through the Cross, & on to worship to the Lamb of God in Heaven. You might say it is an interpretation of ‘What was, What is, & What is yet to come.’ Included in the playlist are Praise & Worship songs that express our ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ. I am glad that we were finally able to document through this music what the Lord did and what He is doing in our lives, right now."

Back in the summer of 1997, Dave & Bobbe, his wife of 38 years, moved to Grass Valley, California. Soon after that move, Dave went to his doctor with a migraine headache and tests revealed the early stages of an incurable cancer called Multiple Myeloma. MM is a cancer that attacks the whole body. In 1970, he had been exposed to Agent Orange while serving in Vietnam & Cambodia. The deadly herbicide was used to defoliate vegetation along rivers and in the jungles of South East Asia. AO has been linked to over a dozen serious conditions and illnesses by the Medical Community & by the Veteran''s Administration. Ten''s of thousands of veterans have died or have been disabled from Agent Orange exposure.

"The doctors only gave me a few years to live, but I am glad that there is a Higher Authority in charge. God is in control even when I may not feel like He is. Even in the Valley of the Shadow of Death, His love has surrounded us. There have been some tough times and treatments, but in many ways I am actually better now than what I was when I was first diagnosed. The Lord’s grace and mercy has followed us throughout this whole process. He gave Bobbe a Song back then. ''God will make a way, when there seems to be no way. He works in ways we can not see, He will make a way for me.'' Jesus has done just that."

Eleven years have come and gone since Dave was first diagnosed. He continues to write and record music about the everyday issues of life and faith, in good times and in hard times. He occasionally joins the Worship Team at Combie Bible Church in Grass Valley, California.
