StreetScholar was created and is taught by Renard Williams who is referred to as "Zoser" by his family, friends, associates and admirers that frequent his companionship via telephone, e-mail, snailmail, or simply visiting his ''shop'' in Northern Pasadena (Altadena), California. Accepting a great accomplishment to assist with the responsisbility of re-educating the human psyche, Renard has attained and will continue this goal as ONE VOICE out of MANY to combat the standards. The standards of our expectations of a dymanic and ever evoling force of spiritual upliftment.
When we think of spiritual guidance in the human form our mind reflects an image of worldwide acceptance. An image that portrays a being pure and pious. As humans we relate the physical appearance of a man or woman with what type of person they are --it''s caled person perception. We can assume, without introduction, how holy or unholy, how religious or non-religious, or even how informed, educated or uninformed and uneducated a person may be based on their image, demeanor, or stature in our society. This form of sagacity is your typical stereotype. In religion, if we strip the "holy" atmosphere, the religious adornments, and the mystique behind what some of today''s leaders and teachers ordinations are based we are left to face what we have on a daily basis. And that is an ordinary person which is what is being presented to you.
Renard doesn''t have any fancy titles preceding his name to certify him as holy, sacred, or a sanctified teacher. He has not donned himself in garb that is identified or associated with as holy. He has not proclaimed to anyone to be a messenger sent by a God. With all of that said, this affirmation doesn''t make him any more or any less spiritual than religious teachers and/or their followers and it definitely doesn''t mean that he cannot speak profoundly on God.
The purpose of Streetscholar is to show how all people regardless of race, culture, creed, religion or geography can manifest the power of ALL THAT IS by way of music and conversation without the support of some established belief. The conversations are not staged or contrieved in any way, shape, or form. They are, however, what happens when people get together and talk about the life we all share. The topics range from love, God, relationships, money, spirituality and the total movement of what IS. The combination of music, natural environments and cultural chants make the Streetscholar Project very calming and soothing to the listener.
