Details:
Bandersnatch emerged in early 2000, when six individuals with substantial musical experience decided to create a sound that combines rich vocal harmonies and musicianship. In 2007 the band lineup changed. Steve Rothwell and Clive Leyland left the band and were replaced by Rebecca Raw and Ian Kell. From February 2007 the band is:

Dennis Dodds: mandolin, acoustic guitar, violin and vocals.
Ian Kell: acoustic/electric guitar, piano and vocals.
Ed McGurk: acoustic guitar, cittern, mandolin, whistles and vocals.
Norman Raw: bass and vocals.
Rebecca Raw: violin/viola and vocals.
Alan Roscoe: acoustic guitar and vocals.

The band has created a distinctive style within the acoustic and modern-folk genre with a repertoire as diverse as the lineup suggests and has a growing loyal following. The band has the ability to move seamlessly from traditional to contemporary material, offering a blend of multipart vocal harmony and multi-instrumental dexterity. Their repertoire ranges from sensitive arrangements of gentle ballads to driving, rhythmical folk rock and blues. Whilst often giving a refreshing edge to established favourites, the band also endeavours to introduce contrasting material from the less frequently explored corners of this particular musical landscape. The warmth and humour that allows them to connect with their audience is not compromised by the discipline that they bring to their performance.
Bandersnatch are comfortable playing unplugged in folk clubs or on a large stage. The flexibility resulting from the band’s instrumental versatility allows it to adapt its music to the venue and the audience. Bandersnatch appeal equally to folk music enthusiasts and to those who simply appreciate quality songs skillfully performed.

Reviews of live performances are often submitted to the band’s website. The following are some typical comments:

I am little use with words, but have great need to express the joy Bandersnatch brought to our little folk club. The very best harmonies with such fine music, delivered without aires and graces to an appreciative audience. I am hooked and hope they return to us.
(Gloria, Leigh Folk Club)
“Wonderful mixture of musical talent and voices in Harmony, a very relaxing and enjoyable evening - will keep a look out where you’re playing next. Thank you.”
(Louise, Sandbach Unplugged)

“This band continues to surprise me, each time I see them I like them more. Rich and varied, not out of place on any folk club or festival stage. I look forward to seeing them back at Middlewich 2008, mainstage! Look out for them.
(Liz Rosenfield, Festival Director, Middlewich
