Details:
Bill Decker grew up in Central New Jersey and has resided in several locations in New England, including Martha''s Vineyard and Connecticut. He currently resides in Massachusetts with his wife Diane.

His songs are lyrically oriented, but balanced with careful attention to melody and creative composition. Many of the songs draw on personal experiences and relationships. They contain elemental imagery and universal themes within specific vignettes. The songwriter, much like the novelist or playwright, may sometimes step outside the realm of his own experience in order to find the most fitting narrative voice and perspective.

“The Smoke” is inspired by Daniel Quinn’s novel, "The Holy." It is an homage to the ancient gods and goddesses who secretly influence the affairs of humanity and seek those who can see the true life force in the world.

“Starlight and the Wind” alludes to scenes from J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Fellowship of the Ring.” On their journey, Frodo and his companions are sheltered by Tom Bombadil, the spirit of the old forest, and the Lady Goldberry, the daughter of the river. The ethereal voice of Goldberry is brought to life by vocalist Aoife O’Donovan.

“Let’s Be Scared” satirizes the culture of fear in politics and in the news media.

“The Court of the Simpleton Prince" is a brawl of a song, set in an Irish pub in the late 19th century. It weaves a timeless tale about political ambition, greed, corruption, and war’s exploitation of the young, with thinly veiled allusions to George W. Bush and his gang of scoundrels. It features the instrumental talents of Eric Kilburn, Billy Novick, and Eden MacAdam-Somer.

“The Crossing,” “Maker and Giver,” and “Poem at the Gate” reflect relationships and personal experiences with people who have been important in Bill’s life and are no longer living.
