Details:
Dodge is the starbass player of Seven Eleven. He started his solo-career in 1998 with a tribute to his greatest inspiration: Bootsy Collins. Together with producer handieMan and with help of the Seven Eleven funkateers Dodge recorded six tracks for his first solo album ‘Mutronic Injection’. The album got excellent reviews. The updated version called ''Mutronic Injection Deluxe'' is available at CD Baby!
In 2003 Challenge Records released Dodge''s second bass project ''Star Bass Invasion''. The album is a full size experience and it''s Dodge''s international breakthrough.
The first track ''Just Funk'' features Jara Harris (Slapbak) and Nowell Haskins (Funk-Kin). The album also contains two tracks with Dodge''s old friend Menace and a track with two talented German bass players on ‘Dodgeland’. We even hear Bootsy himself on guitar and Dodge playing the bass in ''On the hood''!
Seven Eleven’s lead vocalist Jewl appears on ''Jewl of the Nile'' and the up tempo track ''Funky Anarchist''. The album was produced by funk and trip-hop producer handieMan and hip-hop producer Oh Jay. Two different perspectives on Dodge and his star bass universe, created this very exciting blend of Funk: Star Bass Invasion.

REVIEW in Plastics:
DODGE – STAR BASS INVASION (JJ Tracks/Challenge)
Seven Eleven bass-ace Dodge on a solo project. This whole project is about Bootsy and the infamous star bass or space bass. But what a tribute this is, with the man himself playing guitar alongside Gary ‘Starchild’ Shider, Fred Wesley and the entire Rubber Band crew on one tune ‘On The Hood’. Although lots of programming was involved in this ‘Star Bass Invasion’ project, the big happy seventies vibe comes through like a piece of (space)cake. This is good old school P-Funk as it was played by the likes of Bootsy, George Clinton, Parliament-Funkadelic back in the days when The Mothership was still landing the stage and Dr. Funkenstein was Clinton’s role in the game. This record is full of deep bass grooves, funky guitars, fine vocals, nice raps and heavy funk beats. And just as we like them: real deep and ‘on-the-one’.
A major role was selected for guitarist/producer handieMan and producer Oh Jay, but this time around really tasteful synth beats are used to great delight of the overall sound. Short tunes, nicely flowing and plenty of variety. Spacey samples and keyboards; it’s all in there. What more can I say? It’s cheaper to funk than it is to pay attention! * * * * (RM)
