Barry and Holly Tashian are praised for their "extraordinary vocal blend, reminiscent of the Everly Brothers at their best." This album features Barry and Holly singing live in the studio with their two guitars and Ross Sermons on upright bass. The Tashians'' previous CDs on Rounder Records brought them several awards including the "Album of the Year" for their album "Straw Into Gold." They''ve been singing together for over thirty years. Their warm and welcoming performances have won them many appreciative friends and fans worldwide.
Barry first won national attention with his legendary Boston rock group, Barry & The Remains, opening for the Beatles'' North American tour in 1966, recording an album on Epic records at age 19 and appearing on The Ed Sullivan Show. In the late ''60s and early ''70s he worked and recorded with country rock innovator Gram Parsons and The Flying Burrito Brothers. And from 1980-1989, Barry was a member of Emmylou Harris'' Hot Band, touring, recording many albums and appearing on numerous television and radio shows as vocalist/guitarist with Emmylou. Barry also appeared with Gail Davies, and recorded with Iris DeMent.
Holly studied classical music in her youth. After completing college and graduate studies she took up the guitar and harmony singing as a career with Barry. In the early 1980''s the Tashians moved to Nashville to pursue careers in songwriting and recording while raising two sons. One of Holly''s first compositions, "Home," appeared on the Grammy nominated album by The Nashville Bluegrass Band. Collectively the Tashians'' songs have been recorded by Ty England, The Lynn Morris Band, Kate Brislin & Jody Stecher, Daniel O''Donnell, Roland White, and many others. Holly has recorded vocally with Nanci Griffith and Delia Bell.
Together, Barry and Holly Tashian tour throughout North America and Europe giving concerts and teaching workshops on harmony singing and songwriting. They have performed on many TV and radio shows including The Grand Ole Opry Live, American Music Shop, E-Town and A Prairie Home Companion (As Emmylou''s Special Guests).
