" ''C''est la vie'' plays...I smile and dance...the world is alright. This, my friends, is some brilliant music." - Laura Burhenn, musician

In early 2004, Temp was formed from the collaborative efforts of singer-songwriter, Daniel Au, and laptop dj/producer, Lucas Kuzma. Finding themselves bored from the current pop rock scene and its endless derivatives, they decided they wanted to make some good, unique, original music.

Though Daniel and Lucas are quite similar on worldviews and humor, their musical approach and influences were quite different. Daniel, hailing from the dusty broad lands of Texas, was raised on rock, roll, folk, bossa nova, and funk, defining his eclectic indie-folk-bossa-funk sound. Lucas was raised on the emerging electronic music wave, and rode the crest into his interests in complex IDM sounds, and eventually producing two electronic albums while touring around America.

Their sound evolved as they worked together in the production of the songs that Daniel had written. They recorded each song at Lucas''s home studio in which Daniel covered most of the instrumentation and vocals, and rounded out their production with recordings from their studio visits with musicians from UCLA''s School of Ethnomusicology adding an acoustic tenderness and depth to the compositions. Besides spending a lot of time and energy concentrating on producing the best arrangements, sound, and melodies, they wanted their music to have some reverence and meaning to their lyrics.

" We wanted to make good music, and we always knew that the content of the song is equally as important as the melody," Daniel remarked.

Lyrically, the songs talk about life issues, politics, war, and love. The title track, ''C''est la vie'', is about enjoying life and not letting life bring you down. "Normally, ''C''est la vie'', meaning, ''That''s life'', has a negative connotation, but I decided to reverse the notion by singing it positively and having positive lyrics around that phrase/chorus," said Daniel.

Temp has finished their first EP, and will continue to write and produce new songs while considering to do a European tour. You can stay up to date with the band at their website, https://www.tradebit.com
