Passion and feeling... These are the two words that describe Linda''s music. Her friends say her eyes "light up" when she talks about music. She is recognized for being a pianist, choir director, singer, and songwriter in her musical career. Linda’s music has led her into some interesting and unique opportunities. A long time desire to record a CD has finally become a reality, and was launched this past November 23.
PERSONAL PIANO STUDIES
Linda began piano lessons at the age of seven. By the age of 11, she was accompanying her mother in church. With the help of an awesome junior high music teacher, she was given the opportunity to play for various musical groups at the school. This experience gave her the confidence she needed and, thus, was the beginning of a lifetime piano career. Linda has continued to study piano throughout the years from some very professional pianists, which has allowed her to increase her piano skills and enhance her artistic talent.
OUTSTANDING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY
Linda has been involved in education since graduation from college. Her favorite educational position was the opportunity to teach full-time music at Gardena Valley Christian School in California, where she was in charge of 400 students from K-6. Holding individual classroom music theory sessions, leading graded choirs, and directing musicals with live orchestra was a growth experience she relished. During her time at Gardena, Linda had the great opportunity to work with Flo Price (Ralph Carmichael''s sister-in-law) in her musical "A Miracle Happened at Christmas." This part of her career gave her the chance to be creative and expand her musical abilities.
CONTINUED MUSIC EDUCATION
After realizing she needed additional musical training, Linda enrolled at Oral Roberts University in 1985 and began her study of music for two years. While there, she accompanied the ORU University Chorale. In 1989, Linda moved back to Southern California and gave students experiences in a variety of musical performances, while teaching in the elementary public school system.
In 2004, Linda became the “Kids Choir” director at Sunrise Church in Rialto, California, under the direction of Music Minister, Pastor Gregory Hooper. In addition, she has been able to play some piano solos for the Worship Services. Sunrise church is led by Senior Pastor Jay Pankratz and ministers to approximately 4,000 people on a weekly basis.
During Linda’s musical career, she will continue to share her music in her school where she teaches 5th grade, churches, and community events as opportunities arise. Linda gives praise to God for all the musical talents He has given her, and for the way He has guided and directed her life. Linda’s desire has been to share her music and give encouragement to others. The following verse is special to her: Psalms 37:5 “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Music is a powerful medium that can reach all people and give hope, and minister to whatever needs are present in their lives. This CD is her song, Linda’s Song, to both God and the people she touches in her life.
