Details:
Sonny Robertson has traveled that long muscial road for over sixty years. From the Do-Wop, days of Dee-Jay records with Jimmy Reed, The Impressions, Gene Chandler, The Four Seasons, to the highways of the blues and he has played venues that include singing with Ike Turner; playing guitar with Albert King; opening for Buddy Guy, Jimmy Hendricks, and Coco Taylor, Lil Milton, Lonnie Brooks and many more greats. Sonny Robertson, the blues legend appeared as a guest on the Judy Joy Jones internet radio show (October 11, 2008 ) presenting his latest CD, From the Banks of the Mississppi. Enjoy the following "blog" from Judy''s show: "Sonny''s voiice shrieks, cries, moans, groans, opening the listener''s hearts and all our old wounds, allowing us to feel, allowing us to bleed and really allowing us to heal. His voice is the world''s soul turned inside out. It''s black and blue and blood red. No way you''re gonna walk away, the same person after hearing this man pouring out those blues. Sonny Robertson''s voice says life is sad, hard, and can be sheer hell but whoever said that getting to the good stuff would be easy? He doesn''t sugar-coat life. Sonny just sings the hell outta it. Every now and then you meet someone so at home in their own skin; all of a sudden you are feeling pretty good about your ownself; ''AS IS'' ... yup that''s Sonny Robertson, ''AS IS''.
