Cleanfall was originally established in the Fall of 2005 by Matthew Collins (vocals/guitar) and Jim Pollak (percussion) at Elizabethtown College in central Pennsylvania. The duo’s diverse blend of influences formed the foundation for what was to become the group’s inventive indie/rock sound. The lineup evolved to include Will Secrist (bass/guitar) and Dan Buckley (guitar/bass). As a four piece ensemble, Cleanfall draws on a variety of influences including: Arcade Fire, Nada Surf, and Death Cab for Cutie.
Throughout 2006 and early 2007, Cleanfall began playing local venues and college campuses. After the band’s founding members graduated from Elizabethtown College, Cleanfall took a one year hiatus beginning in the Summer of 2007. The band reformed in September 2008 and began working on their debut album “Idle Talk”. While it is not a concept album, there is a strong message of a hope for something better that can be heard throughout the lyrics of the record. The album was recorded in October and November of 2008 with Carson Slovak at Century Studios in Lancaster, Pa and is set for release in January 2009.
