Tina Jenkins AKA "Tina J," started singing and playing drums in the church at the tender age of seven years old. By the time she turned ten she got the great opportunity to work with Rodney "Dark Child" Jerkins; producer out of South Jersey. Rodney led the choir in which Tina sang at his father''s church. Tina often talked about how she wanted to become a recording artist. Having been blessed at such a young age to perform with successful professionals, she began to realize that her childhood dream could soon become a blessed reality.
By the time Tina turned eleven her father Ed Jenkins, who was already involved in the music industry, was prompted and blessed by God to build a recording studio where God could perfect their talents. Ed began preparing Tina buy instructing her in the intricacies of the recording and entertainment industries. Between the ages of eleven and fourteen Tina''s crowd relating performances have inspired audiences in numerous venues which include; Kids Night at the Apollo, Harlem Weekend in NYC, The African Heritage Festival in Washington, DC and BET Television to name a few. By sixteen years of age Tina has written and recorded over 50 songs. Tina has recently recorded and written on the HBO Movie Soundtrack "The Disappearing Act" staring Wesley Snipes, sang on the song titled "Finders Keepers" with Little Moe featuring Jahiem of Warner Brothers and recently recorded with Fred Jerkins out of the Dark Child camp. Tina has a very fun and out going personality with a heart felt compassion for people, especially the youth and those in need (the least and the lost). Tina''s continuing dedication as a seed sower of the Gospel of her Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ is evident in the faces of those who she has ministered to in song and in the testimony of her daily life. God has blessed Tina with the gifts to dance, sing, write and arrange vocals.
Tina is now is giving it all back to God as she releases to us her debut album titled, "The Truth"
Tina has titled her album "The Truth," because of her desire to minister to the streets letting people know that we need more than our own efforts for survival. Our efforts lead us into cycles of pain, disappointments and hopelessness. The truth is that we must stop resisting and insisting on our ways and come to Jesus and let him work it out. The truth may hurt for a little while but it will end the self-destructive cycling and bring victory through salvation in Jesus Christ. There is joy, happiness and fun in living for Jesus.
The style of "The Truth," is a mixture of urban, hip-hop, and pop sounds designed to catch the ear of today''s youth (and anointed in such a way as to not be offensive to older Christians) while blessing all with the truth of Gods word in a way that relates to their current life circumstances. The lyrics are inner generational, plain language truth and easily understood.
The song on the album titled "Let'' Em Know" ministers to the masses of people who are hurting, dieing and thinking that there is no hope or no one who understands or cares. Tina wants to remind Christians that as Christ loves us and gave his life for us he said, "so send I you". This inspiring song encourages the true believer to get out of the pews and into the streets and let the people know that Jesus is the answer and solution to all of their needs (faith without works is dead).
Tina wrote the song titled "You Are" as an expressive prayer to God in which she was seeking guidance and direction in her relationship with her boy friend. This song reminds us that God, not man, is the only one that we can totally trust. The song ends in praising God for his never-ending faithfulness to us.
