Chris Murray has recorded and worked with Jamaican Ska icons The Skatalites, Prince Buster, Laurel Aitken, Two Tone hero Neville Staples from The Specials, Canada`s Planet Smashers, and Top American Ska acts like Hepcat and the Stubborn All Stars. More recently he has been recording a collaboration album with Hellcat Records Ska act The Slackers.
Although until now rooted in the Ska underground, Chris Murray is regarded by many in the Ska world one of the scenes most important acts for decades, Chris Murray is always constantly touring across the globe.
This "Best of" exclusive for Europe album is culled from his 3 USA solo albums "The 4 Track Adventures Of Venice Shoreline Chris" ,"4 Trackaganza", "Raw" and the "gig only available" DIY mini-album "Six Songs" plus a rare Toasters cover "Thrill Me Up" and two brand new songs "Let There Be Peace" and "You''re Not My Type".
The CD traces his career from leaving the ultra influential Canadian Ska act King Apparatus to his first solo Ska tracks back in 1996, through his 2001 4 track recordings, to his 2003 album "Raw" recorded on cassette!
With a sound stripped back to basics be it recorded in a studio, home 4 track or cassette Chris Murrays songs have the warmth, soul and feel of original Jamaican recordings... as he says himself "give respect to the roots".
