Adriana Kwicinski, a pure, honey-voice vocalist, became a fan and jazz singer at the very young age of 11. She passionately pursued her love for jazz and now, at the age of 16 is releasing her second cd “Day by Day”. Not the typical genre of music of 16 year olds, Adriana is drawn to the intricate melodies, the tricky rhythms and the challenge of improvisation. But most of all she’s drawn to the power of jazz to soothe the soul and communicate emotion, a power she’s had to muster a lot over the past 2 years.
In 2006 Adriana’s father passed away after a nine month battle with Pancreatic Cancer. That’s when Adriana decided to combine her passion for singing with her desire to make a difference in the fight against pancreatic cancer. In November, 2006, Adriana launched her first cd “Irreplaceable”. All of the proceeds from sales went to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, a nationwide network of people dedicated to working together to advance research, support patients and create hope for those affected by Pancreatic Cancer. Adriana raised more than $40,000.
Now, just 2 years later, Adriana is launching her second cd “Day by Day”. Adriana is currently working in close partnership with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network to raise money for the Larry Kwicinski Pancreatic Cancer Action Network Research Fund. For every $100,000 Adriana raises there will be a research grant in her father’s name. All of the proceeds from the sale of her cd will go to this special research fund.
In addition to releasing 2 cd’s, Adriana has performed numerous times in support of her cause. In 2006, she made her Hollywood debut, performing at the PanCAN Evening with the Stars Gala event. She has performed at fund raising events in Portola Valley, CA; Menlo Park, CA; Napa Valley, CA and Toronto Canada.
In 2007 Adriana was honored by Down Beat Magazine’s National Student Music Awards for her “outstanding performance” as a Jazz Vocalist. Adriana has pursued her jazz studies and has attended the Stanford Jazz Workshop several times as well as attending the Berklee College of Music summer program in 2008.
In 2008, Adriana performed the role of Sandy in her high school’s production of Grease. She is also a member of her high school’s advanced chorus and a member of a 4 person a cappella group.
Earlier this year, Adriana had the honor of singing the US and Canadian National Anthems at the San Jose Sharks game in front of an audience of 20,000.
