Three years after XCOAST’s debut album “Rough Enough”, Modern Activism presents their brand new release “No East No West”. Here electronic and hip hop sounds melt in an original musical direction, enriched by indie-rock and new folk influences.
In this new work, the duo formed by Raffaele Costantino (Costa) and Maurizio Bilancioni (Knuf) hosts prestigious collaborations with Italian and international artists. Among these:
Kill The Vultures, outstanding representatives of the new independent US hip hop scene
RQM from Berlin, the voice behind a number of projects published by labels including G-STONE, Sonarkollektiv and Kitty Yo
Moor Music Italian artist Populous
Riccardo Bertini, singer of Mammooth – one of Italy’s most highly regarded post rock bands
DJ Stile, well known turntablist who embarks on a final skit, mixing together all the album’s tracks just using turntables.
The result is a 12 track route through the soundscape between hip hop and electronic music. A tribute to all hip hop ‘schools’, crossing through and mixing with other genres, creating an original sound, an ‘X’ coast, which is neither a West nor East coast sound.
The album includes the successful single “I feel free”, released in April 2007. The hugely-anticipated single contained various versions and remixes by

With a keen interest in all artforms, XCOAST, having already collaborated in the past with Scarful (Wild Style), and on the song’s video – included in the CD – with Pinatycolorea e PixelOrchestra, have entrusted the graphic artwork for the new album to Volk.
