Details:
We at Urban Renewal are proud to present our first release, a compilation of unreleased North American tracks mixed by our resident DJ Cooper. Featured tracks run the gamut of the sound, from the raw bass of Dallas native Jason Mundo''s "I Stand Rasta" remix to the smooth broken beat of Chicago DJ Joseph''s "Late Night Dream" and the 4-on-the-floor pump of Toronto producer DeepSix''s "Tactical". This compilation is a mission statement for Urban Renewal and a testament to a new breed of international producers who are integrating British urban music with their local social geography.

"Tough, heavy and deep--apparently, this is what makes breakbeat and garage distinctly American. Forget the fluffy, poppy two-step from the UK--this first release from the Urban Renewal label gathers only the dark stuff from around the country (and one from our friendly neighbors up north), the stuff more influenced by the likes of gritty acts like Zed Bias and Stanton Warriors than pop-garage wannabes Trusteppers. All densely packed layers of bass, complicated breaks and sharp snares, Transatlantic Bass is nicely mixed by DJ Cooper, who maintains the album''s raw, gritty feel throughout."

Baaadddddaaassssss!!! Mixed tighter than Dick Cheney''s buttcrack, and all the tracks just boom. Best heard speeding down a palm-lined avenue with a big sub in the trunk rockin your lowest chakras.

It totally f***ing rocks my socks off! I think you have done a wonderful thing, especially in having North America represented as a real production force to be reckoned with. That Jason Mundo "I Stand Rasta" remix is off the chain... A huge step forward for the scene.
