Details:
On March 8th, 2008, Shaun Adam Vilan, 30 years old, beloved father, brother, son, best friend, and lover, was senselessly shot by a drunk off-duty Costa Mesa police officer, Scott Dibble, at an annual Rod Run car show in Old Town Temecula.

Dibble was intoxicated and said something to Shaun, Shaun approached Dibble, words ensued, a punch or two was thrown, and Dibble pulled out his service weapon and fired off five shots without identifying himself—without any warning.

Shaun was shot three times—once in the arm, the chest, and in his side. Shaun was NOT armed, and could not defend himself.

Shaun was gunned down in front of his seven years old son, two younger brothers, and group of close friends.

Yet, Riverside county Sheriff’s Department never took officer Dibble’s BAC because they said they had no reason to take the victim’s BAC. They had determined that Dibble was the victim that night before even conducting an investigation.

To date, NO criminal charges have yet been pressed against officer Scott Dibble.

If you want to stand up against the prejudice and the lies please write letters to The California Riverside County District Attorney’s Office demanding justice for Shaun Adam Vilan, his son, and his family. Shaun did not deserve to die.

Why is it ok for an off-duty cop to carry a gun, and then use it indiscriminately, after drinking all day? Any non-cop would have gone down for Dibble’s crime.

After Shaun was killed, the pain I felt and feel everyday was what drove this CD. For me it was a choice between self-destruction and preservation.

In less than five months, Shaun’s cousin, Evil Live, and I got together and wrote more than 13 complete songs and all the music on this CD—in tribute to the most loyal friend either of us has ever known. Shaun was my best friend, and brother, for 16 years.

When people ask us what 3 8-0-8 is we’ll tell them it’s the date that Shaun passed, and that it was from out of this tragedy and injustice that our band was born. This is how we will keep Shaun’s memory aliveTil Death and beyond.
