Details:
The improvisational jazz trio TRIPLICATE is founded on a principal rarely seen in jazz and other popular music today: they are an ensemble with a true Esprit de Corps sense of enthusiasm and devotion to their common cause of creating and performing a personal repertoire of music defined by their collective group sound. The trio has practiced this principal steadfastly for almost a decade.

TRIPLICATE applies this principal to their original and adapted musical road map with a refined approach to the three elements making up the music they play: an unobscured sense of melodic direction, mood-setting harmonic destination points, and rhythmic intrigue and surprise throughout the journey.

This imagination and sensibility has given the members of TRIPLICATE, Joel Shapira (electric guitars), Bruce "Pooch" Heine (acoustic & electric basses), and David Stanoch (trapset), the respect and appreciation of critics, disc-jockeys, promoters, and, most importantly, listeners of all ages who enjoy their recordings and are captivated by their live performances.

The new release, on Rhythmelodic Records, entitled Day & Age explores further TRIPLICATE''s "think globally, act locally" conception with ten new selections--five originals and five adaptations. Day & Age showcases the trio''s traditional to modern American jazz, funk, and New Orleans musical influences weaving through Afro-Caribbean, Asian, Middle Eastern, and West-African aural landscapes to form a travelogue of instrumental stories.

"Triplicate is deceptively excellent. ...no flashy passages, superficial energy, or showy displays ‚ just direct, un-complicated playing that reaches the listener on many levels."
~ Bob Protzman, St. Paul Pioneer Press

"...Triplicate performs inventive interpretations of jazz greats such as Charles Mingus, Miles Davis and John McLaughlin along with a steadily growing arsenal of solid originals. What results is a Hegelian synthesis of modern attitude and form, along with traditional jazz energy to produce a unique sound."
~ Ripsaw News, Duluth, Minnesota

"Empathy abounds on Triplicate''s [self titled] new release for Rhythmelodic Records. This polished band more than capably covers a lot of hip turf: hard bop, jazz-rock, Monk, Mingus, New Orleans funk, even a snatch of Led Zeppelin."
~ Tom Surowicz, Star Tribune, Minneapolis

"Triplicate has eleven stellar tracks and a guitar and rhythm-driven sound that surpasses like-minded national outings I receive by the bakers-dozen."
~ Kevin O''Connor, Music Director, Jazz 88-FM Radio, St. Paul/Mpls

"...it''s safe to say that the 11-track album is one of the finest local offerings ‚ in any genre ‚ of 2001... Triplicate is all musical meat, no cereal filler."
~ Tom Surowicz, The Villager, https://www.tradebit.coml/Minneapolis

TRIPLICATE is an improvisational jazz trio, formed in 1996, that blends an eclectic variety of musical influences and experiences together to produce a personal repertoire of music defined by their collective group sound. TRIPLICATE is Joel Shapira on electric guitars, Bruce "Pooch" Heine on acoustic and electric basses and David Stanoch on trapset.

TRIPLICATE became a band more by accident than design. The trio bonded through informal jam sessions and a desire to stretch, burn, and play melodically. As the trio discovered its musical chemistry a repertoire quickly began to form and the group forged ahead with a concept that they would perform as a true band in every sense‚‚developing their original and adapted music together and always performing as a core unit. This is a concept seen less often, in this day and age, to which the members of TRIPLICATE have dedicated themselves for almost a decade.

Highlights of this Minnesota-based trio''s musical journey include regular performances at a wide variety of Twin Cities and regional music venues including The Twin Cities Hot Summer Jazz Festival, KBEM Winter Jazz Festival, in Minneapolis, and Grand Marais Jazz Festival, as well as shows at the nationally renowned Artists'' Quarter and The Dakota jazz clubs. TRIPLICATE has also been featured opening for national acts at The Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater and the Cedar Cultural Center.

TRIPLICATE''s self-titled debut CD, released on Rhythmelodic Records in 2001, received much critical acclaim, garnering nominations for Best Jazz Group and Best Jazz Recording at the 2001 Minnesota Music Awards. TRIPLICATE enjoyed a sold-out CD release show at the The Dakota Jazz Club in the Twin Cities, and received steady airplay on KBEM Jazz 88 FM, MPR''s KNOW-FM, KFAI-FM, and even WCCO-AM. The trio has also made several appearances on KARE 11 TV and Twin Cities Public Television. Check out the Web cast archive of their Jan. 31, 2001 appearance and May 3, 2000 appearance in RealVideo. (You''ll need the free RealVideo player.)

TRIPLICATE is also active in music education, performing concerts, clinics and workshops at various regional schools and music stores including, notably, the Jazz Is Cool in Your School program series sponsored by The American Federation of Musicians Union Local #30-73, and The Twin Cities Jazz Society in 1998.
