Details:
There is no doubt that Tracie Merchant''s eclectic, acoustic style is her own blend of life experience and emotion. This songwriter''s soulful and passionate voice will capture your senses immediately. You can read Tracie''s life in between the lines, her lyrics intimate and empowering.

She recently launched her first CD project, "That''s Mine", on her own label, 225 Miles Music. Self-produced (engineered by Carlos Flood), this debut opus features ten original songs...all acoustic, live studio cuts: simply voice, guitar, and soul. Two songs were co-written with Dallas based, South Texas born Darryl Rush. This heartfelt recording is just a taste of her talent.

Through her musical journey she is discovering herself and her life''s work...but you have to experience the passionate and soulful performance of Tracie Merchant. Born in North Texas, with family roots in the Texas Panhandle, Tracie began life with a passion for music, taking up piano and violin as a young girl - later studying music composition at the University of North Texas. With her classical background, she secretly yearned to play guitar and write songs. Eventually she could no longer ignore her true desire, and began to immerse herself into the folk scene, taking instruction from other songwriters such as Jack Hardy of New York City, Bill Nash and Bob Ackerman of Dallas.

Continuing to explore her own voice, Tracie''s passions have led her to put all else aside for a dream. "I see singing and songwriting as something that I''m supposed to be doing", she explains. "I don''t really know why...but I was never really happy until I gave in to something deep inside of me. This ''thing'' I choose to do keeps me sane…the most illogical choice for a career as far as I''m concerned, but the best decision I ever made. I see so many people living a life they really don''t enjoy...I used to live that way. Somehow I just got to a place where I just didn''t want to live with regrets. Finally one day I realized I was going to have to follow my heart...I didn''t really know where that would take me, but I wanted to find out…an adventure, you might say."

This Texas native has quickly found a receptive audience with her powerful, rich vocals and her unique folk-rock style. The new short-film "Air", produced/directed by Kevin Nash and written by Vicki Cheatwood, features two of Tracie''s songs: "Free" in the movie''s opening sequence and "Independence Day" during the credits. https://www.tradebit.com awarded Tracie "Female Vocalist of the Year" in February of 2002. As a part of Poor David''s Pub 25th anniversary special, she appeared on "the Glen Mitchel Show", KERA 90.1, along with established songwriters Max Stalling and Josh Alan. Tracie has opened shows for Guy Forsyth, Trish Murphy, Shake Russell, Dana Cooper, Vince Bell, Terri Hendrix w/ Lloyd Maines...has shared the stage with Adam Carroll, Ruthie Foster, Cindy Kalmenson, Butch Morgan, to name a few.
