Nick Marino is a singer/songwriter who has music that dates as far back as 1970. He is also an Attorney who is licensed in Ohio and New York and he is also a certified Mediator.
In addition to Legal and Mediation services, he also provides music services through his company GNM Records including a 24 Track Recording Studio.
This album "Medina Line" is named after the County where he spent his early life, Medina County Ohio. Later, he also lived there with his wife Mary and their son George before moving to Akron, Ohio which is about 12 miles east. At that time, his parents rented out the Old Farm House. While he spent his teen years in Akron including high school, after moving to Akron, his parents moved back to the farm house in Granger Township Medina County. They later moved next door and rented the farm house. The album cover depicts the "back room" as they called it where Nick first learned to play the piano on an old Grand Upright given to his mother by her cousin Angie when she joined the convent many years before.
The "Back Room" as shown on the album cover was remodeled again when Nick and Mary first moved in by Nick''s parents to whom they paid a modest rent while he was still in law school in Cleveland which is about 30 miles north.
For those of you who see the CD itself, the picture on the disc is the Dining Room woodwork which came out of the old barn that sat behind the house in the early 1950''s when Nick''s parents first bought the old farm. The house itself was built in 1842 and was completely remodeled from a shack by his parents in the 1950''s. It is a "Salt Box" design. The old farmer''s family who they bought it from, Mr Huntley, had owned it since the 19th century.
The picture on the back of the CD is of Nick''s wife Mary and their son George at his first birthday party in front of the large picture window put in the Dining Room by Nick''s parents in the 1950''s which looks out over the back countryside. The picture was taken in August of 1983. They moved to Akron a few weeks later but the old Farm House is still in the family as of today''s date of January 2009.
One of the main themes of the Album is the passing of time.
The Old Farm House has been a home to someone with loved ones there since 1842. And as the song says, be my love here today and let-- time roll away.
