Details:
Above Under Water - Music Fom The Cistern.

Some years ago drummer and marimba player Horst Faigle had the opportunity to do these recordings in a subterranial cistern designed for the potable water supply of a geman half million city. It was emtied for technical restoration and consists of four huge chambers with pillars. Both, walls and pillars, are totally even and thus created - now it''s filled with water again - a very loud reverb up to 40 seconds! Certainly all music which was played there had to be quite slow and experimental, somehow ruminant, otherwise only wild sound clusters would have been produced.

After long time negotiations what to do with the recordings, Horst Faigle releases it now on his own as a solo CD with some guest musicians on several tracks. You''ll hear some marimba pieces, two more or less wild percussion improvisations, and furthermore some Blues and Folk tunes with tuba (Heinrich Filsner), violin (Anne Adler) and voice (Petra Nacke) and - of course - marimba.

Get charmed by the dazzling sound colors that this cistern produced and buy one of this 200 piece limited edition, autographed and numbered in an elaboratly designed cardboard sleeve.

Horst Faigle,
born in Nuremberg / Germany in 1966, started playing drums autodidactic at the age of 13 and soon performed as a band drummer. After first lessons with drummer Yogo Pausch he proceeded in studying classical percussion since 1988 by a two year education at the "Berufsfachschule für Musik" at Dinkelsbühl / Germany under the instruction of Joachim Sponsel and thus became familiar with the instruments vibraphone, marimba and timpani. From 1990 to 1992 he carried on this path at the Meistersinger-Konservatorium / Hochschule für Musik Nuremberg with the teachers Roland Schmidt and Hermann Schwander, whereafter by a change to the jazz branch in the same house he found back to popular music. Since 1990 he studied jazz mallets with US marimba hero Bill Molenhof and jazz drums with Hans-Günther Brodmann, while since then he himself educated young drummers at several music schools and in his private rehursing room. He graduated as Musical Pedagogue in summer 1996.
In January 2007 Horst Faigle looked back on 25 years on the stage and is regularly performing all over south and eastern Germany. In November 2002 he gained the Cultural Advancement Award of the City of Nuremberg together with the group "Feinton" - for whose musical arrangements he is responsible.
