Details:
There are a few songs and musicians in the mainstream that honor today’s American war fighter. But there is only one Rock & Roll musician who writes his songs from the dark recesses of his own wartime experience, from the knowing light seen by his own eyes. Unlike tribute songs written and performed respectfully by other musicians, Jim O’Ferrell composes his music from the ‘first person’, words and music from the mind and memory of a real war fighter. A decorated combat veteran from the war in Iraq, Jim’s compositions cross deliberately and aggressively from tribute music to confessions of the soul. He doesn’t sing about soldiers… he sings from them, he sings for them.

Uncompromising, the new album ‘Back To The World’ is both delicate and abrasive. The diverse musicians forming The Jim O’Ferrell Band provide a perfect balance. They perform a thoughtful and provocative rendition of each composition... as if each song must stand alone, as if each song was their single purpose, as if each song exhaustedly encompassed 100% of their creative effort.

The J.O.B. sounds like genuine rock musicians are supposed to sound. They have no ''pop artist'' distractions and their melodies are not trivialized by mainstream commercial routines. Their music, in all its aspects - from composition to performance - is original, gritty and heart-felt, yet has an innocent ''old school'' feel to it. Lead guitar licks reminiscent of Clapton from his days with Cream or Duane Allman... rhythm guitar runs smacking of Marshall Tucker and even Pink Floyd... intense bass lines leading the charge like Chris Squire of Yes... and thundering percussion of the same caliber that Danny Carey brings to Tool. Jim''s vocals strike hard in every listener with a Bruce Springsteen quality that comes from deep inside. As stated by a Richmond Virginia record producer after hearing a recent performance, "The J.O.B. really connects."
