The latest studio album by Jeffrye Glenn Tveraas

CHESHIRE MOON

A mixed collection of 13 songs written and performed in large part by JGT. Rock, Pop, a touch of Folk, Blues, AAA and more...whatever the songs demanded. This collection of tunes were recorded at his digital project studio in Maine, as well as several recording studios in San Diego and Los Angeles, CA. It recalls a time when diversity was considered a musical blessing, not a merchandising curse.

Some background: a full-time performing musician and songwriter since 1970 JGT started out playing drums in high school cover bands. He studied music in college before hitting the road as a singer/songwriter. He performed all over the U.S. while writing songs and refining his own style. With close friends Larry Keen and Richard Pollack he toured on the New York Coffee House circuit in the middle 70''s. He was in a few critically acclaimed bands in Southern California throughout the 80''s and got a publishing deal with MCA music and San Diego radio airplay with the song "Take Me With You".

He began producing soundtracks and SFX for video games in 1991 and worked as senior sound designer and composer for Sega Interactive and others for over a decade. He moved to Maine in ''95 and worked as a solo acoustic artist in the northland for four years before moving on. He is currently a resident of Austin, TX and is performing solo and as a sideman with several different acts throughout the central Texas.

"Cheshire Moon" is pretty much a one-man band album recorded over a 15 year time period. Jeff did all the singing and played virtually all the instruments on this album along with a little help from some old friends. He also mixed and produced the album. The flavor is classic Pop/Rock.

Mr. Tveraas does engaging pop, folk and rock music. Start with "It''s Over." He makes reference in the liner notes to 1964, but it sounds more like the Raspberries from its plaintive but forceful vocal to its memorable happy guitar. "You Pushed Your Love on Me" sounds very much like Gin Blossoms. The title song has a country/ pop feel thanks to an insistent mandolin line.

On the folk side Tveraas offers "You & I" and "This Guy Is Blue." They are, however, girl-guy songs, folk only in instrumental presentation. And then there are the rockers. "Jeffty''s Boogie" is the best, a blues-tinged, guitar driver with a sax-like synth part. "Tonight''s the Night" and "Take Me With You" both have that night-pregnant-with-possibilities sound common to the best Meat Loaf. There''s even a decent rock ballad called "The Long Ride."

Tveraas is a true veteran, with almost three decades of live performance behind him. And-get this-he also spent a few years composing video game soundtracks. (Star Wars Arcade-that''s him.) Now he''s settled into the central Maine bar circuit, so you have a chance to hear a craftsman at work.

Uncle Andy''s Digest picks Cheshire Moon as it''s 1998 Pop Album of the Year!

Jeffrye Glenn Tveraas'' debut album "Cheshire Moon" will capture your heart and your spirit! This diverse collection of music by one of Maine''s least known singers/songwriters is the best surprise we''ve seen in music in the past two years. Recorded in various studios in San Diego and Los Angeles, CA, and also in Jeffrye''s own Macintosh based home studio in Greene, ME, this 13 song CD has been years in the making. This is the kind of album you don''t get sick of after playing it 65 times (like Big Gare has). We found many favorites with four or five of the songs having the potential to hit it big, and we mean big!

Presently, WCLZ-FM in Portland is giving the album some airplay. We found the album to have a very unusual appeal. Have some fun - get yourself a copy! A lot of airplay, some airplay, or no airplay, this refreshing and diverse collection of tunes is further proof that L/A (east) has an abundance of musical talent. Jeffrye Glenn Tveraes is a gem of a songwriter and incredible musician. He plays and sings everything on the album himself.

The immediate reaction upon listening to this collection of mainly light pop tunes is that it sounds like a soundtrack to a movie, which upon reading the press release that came with the CD makes sense. Tveraas has supplied the soundtrack to several Sega video games, including Star Wars Arcade.

While this CD has it''s fair share of decent straight from the 80''s original songs that make Tveraas sound like the lost member of Air Supply, the handful of tunes that don''t fall into the light pop category are where his strengths lie. It actually feels like you''re part of a video game on "Jeffty''s Boogie" and the hidden track following "Take Me With You."

Tveraas really makes his mark on the tunes "Much of the Time," "It''s Over" and "Cheshire Moon" where he''s able to marry compelling Iyrics with his hook-laden instrumentals. The guy''s range is impressive and while each genre he touches won''t appeal to everyone, the overall product is one worthy of checking out.
