Details:
Today, the multi-talented Umphrey Jackson is a composer, producer, musician and singer, but he spent the early years of his career learning the music trade as a roadie. With the talent to transform any significant moment into a song, he began songwriting during the 70s, during his teenage years at Nürnberg American High School in Germany. Little did Ump know that one day he would write songs based on memories made at NHS. On Ump''s CD, DEDICATED TO THOSE WHO WILL REMEMBER, all the songs, with the exception of one, are inspired by his years at Nürnberg High. In the early 80s, after college at the University of Alabama, Umphrey knew his passion for music would be his profession. From 1981 until 1992, Ump worked as a roadie for Lee Greenwood, Vince Gill, Cher, 38 Special, Molly Hatchet, Night Ranger, The Judds, The Commodores, The Ohio Players and many other artists.

Before Ump decided to go solo, he and a friend started a group called GENIE & THE BEAST. Their group played the college clubs and the underground circuit, with their biggest claim to fame being the New Year''s Eve South Beach Bash in 1999, at which time they shared the stage with the B-52''s and Boy George.

His song Home of the Brave was slated to be part of the THREE KINGS movie filmed in the mid-90s, but was cut from the final score. So, Ump included it on his first CD. Home of the Brave has been especially well received since Umphrey and his group presented it to the troops while on tour with the USO in the Persian Gulf. Since then, Home of the Brave has taken on a life of its own, becoming one of the most downloaded songs in the Persian Gulf. His touching song, Spirits has been requested by many of the families of fallen troops as a way to bring comfort in such trying times.

At this time, Umphrey is, as is always the case for this tireless musician, busy working on several projects, one of which is collaborating with lyricist, Wanda L. Harrell, another artist whose work can be found on CD Baby.
