In an interview with The Virginian-Pilot, they were dubbed “a band with attitude”, perhaps because of their aloof nature & sense of humor. Aiming for a free-form sound & performing tunes written by poignant songwriter Charlton Adam Phaneuf, the acoustic driven trio often surprises audiences with their versatility. The auditory nerves are stimulated w/use of guitar effects manipulated by Charlton and his broad vocal range. Bassist David Mills plays standard, fretless and upright with chest-thumpin'' grooves & melodic voyages, while drummer Josh Birch facilitates his innate ability to simply “make the booty shake!”
Upon releasing their self-produced ep “spoon-fed hed” (charltone music), the trio is getting regular rotation on regional radio & interviews in mixed media. This project aims to stretch genres with an honest approach, while leaving the listener wondering, “what’s next?”
