Spiritus Mundi is pure, unadulterated metal. The music is, for the most part, influenced by the great bands of the past as well as many bands from the present. Mundi has always remained true to its musical vision. While standing on the shoulders of giants like Maiden, Slayer, Sabbath, Zeppelin, and so forth, Spiritus Mundi has managed to come into a very unique sound of its own. The reason being is that Michael, the main composer and lyricist of the band, always felt there were certain elements lacking in even the greatest bands. Spiritus Mundi tries relentlessly to fill those gaps.
One of the aspects that makes Spiritus Mundi so unique is that all of the music and lyrics are composed by an American (Michael Wopshall), yet Mundi has sought out a truly talented vocalist from Germany (Mikey Wenzel). Mundi was never satisfied entirely by just what the USA had to offer, so looked abroad for more options. This works as an advantage. The American-European hybrid may offer the possibly for an even wider audience. Also, Mundi is in the process of incorporating a very gifted bassist (Jim Hampton), to further add to the dynamics of the band.
Mundi has just released its 2nd full length CD, 78:00 minutes precisely. It is filled with 14 mind blowing tracks. A true musical journey that never lets one relax to catch his breath. The in your face onslaught of heaviness begins from the opening note of track 1 all the way to the end of the CD! Mundi has gone where not many artists have ventured before, a full length CD with NO filler songs!
Mundi also has a very extensive amount of original material. Michael has just finished laying down the basic tracks for Mundi''s 80th song! Never content, they have a grand vision of releasing many more CDs. Michael has written approximately 270 lyrics as of this time and a boatload of music to accompany them! Scavenging for new material will not likely pose a problem. Mundi would like to continue the momentum by releasing at least one 78:00 minute CD every year until they are not physically able to any longer. The next CD is already in the works, as well as 5 or 6 others. Hopefully we''ll see another new Spiritus Mundi release within a few months!
