The Venus Throw is based in Richmond, Virginia (remember that the South starts at Richmond!) Members are: Bruce Smith (vox/guitar); Johanna Boulden (keys/vox); Herbie Gimmel (drums).
What do we sound like? A bit like CCR crossed with the Velvet Underground and put through a wheat thresher. Who do we like? The Stones, Jason and the Scorchers, Warren Zevon, Raymond Chandler, Motorhead, Kurt Weill, UFO, Dash Rip Rock, and Nine Pound Hammer to name a few faves.
"Film Noir" was recorded by the totally awesome John Morand at Sound of Music Studios in Richmond. "Film Noir" is currently at over 200 college radio stations nationwide, so if you like our songs please put in an airplay request. We''ll be working on a bunch of new tunes with the good Mr. Morand in Fall 2002.
