GLORIA CALOMÉE
GLORIA CALOMEE has been hailed as “a strong actress and gifted entertainer” (Dramalogue). The award-winning actress and international singer returns regularly to perform at the legendary Cabaret room THE GARDENIA in Hollywood California.
As an actress, she began her career guest-starring in numerous television episodes including WILD WILD WEST, BARNEY MILLER, THE ROCKFORD FILES, PETROCELLI, AND TRAPPER JOHN MD. She was featured in the feature films THE REIVERS, opposite Steve McQueen, and ROLLERCOASTER with James Caan. On the stage she toured with the New York Shakespeare Company’s National tour of Ntozake Shange’s FOR COLORED GIRLS WHO’VE CONSIDERED SUICIDE WHEN THE RAINBOW WAS ENOUGH. A role she later recreated in Hollywood’s Doolittle Theater production. She recently received glowing reviews for her performances in IAGO at the Los Angeles Theater Center, and in the hit musical IS IT JUST ME OR IS IT HOT IN HERE?, at the Cinegrill in Hollywood.
Although she has been siging since she was a small child, she began her professional singing career at the COMEBACK INN, in Venice, California in the late seventies. Since then she has performed in cabarets and clubs throughout Europe including MEMPHIS MELODY and LES TOIS MALLETS in Paris, CASINO DA VILA MORA and CASINO DE MONTE GORDO in the Algarve, Portugal, and QUANDO O PIANO TOCA in Lisbon. She has also performed on the highly acclaimed variety show A FESTA CONTINUA for RTP Television, Lisbon, Portugal.
Her one-woman shows THE MUSIC OF KURT WEILL and REMEMBERING MABEL: A TRIBUTE TO MABLE MERCER, as well as her eclectic performances of Brazilian and American standards have delighted loyal audiences.
