Details:
When it comes to an unbridled penchant for brutally honest lyrics and bare bones beats, we can call vocalist and songwriter Irvin Scabtree “Master”, or at least that’s the title of one of their most downloaded tracks on itunes. Along with guitarist PressIt, the two released an epic 12 song debut record in 2006. PressIt’s chunky guitar riffs complemented Scabtree’s predilection for the electronic. Together at only the age of 17 they released Take Me, Break Me, Make Me Pretty; a monstrous electro record, influenced by the likes of Mindless Self Indulgence.

Immediately the band, who are two self-proclaimed ‘computer, loner, geeks’, started promoting their work the only way they knew how, the internet. They joined a variety of goth/industrial and music web 2.0 web sites and within weeks their downloads started to flow and MySpace began to multiply. Within the first year of release they garnered 83,000 plays on their myspace page and 44,000 ‘friends’ (currently at 175,000 and 55,000 respectfully). Not knowing what to do, they returned to the studio where they recorded the record and asked how they would go about turning their online fan base into ‘real-world’ fans.

The record was immediately serviced to college radio and all national and regional magazines for review. While their fans were heralding the bands music, the critics didn’t necessary agree (but when do they?). Several advertisements in Chart and Exclaim Magazine helped to propel the bands online downloads and CD sales.

Within months the band went back into the same studio with producer/drummer Paul Roussel (Dead and Devine/Straight Reads the Line) and producer/guitarist Brendan Bell. Locked in the studio for nearly two months brought out a six song demo which was used to shop around for a producer for the next record. From those sessions came a mature, lush, textured electro-rock sound that resembles one part Mindless Self Indulgence, one part Ramstein and one part Marilyn Manson. There was one thing that was unmistakable during those sessions: chemistry had abounded, and it was plentiful.

The bands new demo caught the interest of producer Dave Ogilvie (NIN, Marilyn Manson, The Birthday Massacre) who signed on to produce the new record eventually spent a full two months recording the them. Also for the upcoming release, the band hired famed cartoonist, illustrator and comic book creator, Jamie Smart (https://www.tradebit.com). From his home in the UK, Jamie’s work has been made into cartoons, televisions shows and books. Jamie agreed to create a comic book-style CD insert and illustrate the band’s 10 page CD artwork. So far, the reviews have been amazing.
