Guitarist (magazine) album review February 2009 issue 312

Although the phrase ‘painting with sound’ may come across as trite and unnecessarily pompous, in the UK guitarist Tim Scott’s case, it’s perfectly accurate. The interesting arrangements and tones that Scott has used here give the oft-tired guitar instrumental album formula a real shot in the arm, making sure that this album comes very highly recommended.

Total Guitar (magazine) album review February 2009 issue #185

‘Guitars’ and ‘pumping house’ aren’t terms that usually go hand in hand but on this, his second album, guitarist/session player/producer/tutor Tim Scott breaks boundaries by mashing his guitar mastery (think Vai and Satriani) with chilled Ibiza sounds. Perfect tonic for the winter blues.

Guitar & Bass Magazine album review March 2009 Vol 20 No 4

Slick instrumentals from a talented guitar institute graduate who knows his way around the fretboard. Wonderful technique, though you may imagine you’re listening to a collection of TV detective theme tunes.

Guitar Mashing is exceptionally new and yet artistically different in a style that I’m sure you''ll truly love and be totally energized by.

The driving inspiration behind Guitar Mashing was to create a stunning collection of catchy yet distinctive instrumental guitar tunes that emanate today’s all important “X Factor” instantly craving mass appeal.

With phat house inspired bass lines and kicking drums all skilfully mixed together with Latin percussion and fabulously topped off with ultra spacious production, this is a sure fire hit.

There has not been an album that could potentially be as big as this since Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells. In short the cross over potential for Guitar Mashing is immense.

Guitar Mashing features the now synonymous “Ibiza’s Secret Garden” which by all accounts is an outstanding track and subsequently formed the basis (as they share the same guitar melody) for Radio 1 DJ Judge Jules latest collaboration with Scott entitled “City Rockers (Marcus Twiddle Edit)” for his new artist album Bring The Noise.

Guitar Mashing also features a stunning super postmodern version of J.S. Bach’s classic, “Prelude in C” which would be as at home on The Late Junction on Radio 3 as it would be supporting the Premiership highlights on ITV.

To top off this world beating project Guitar Mashing has been mastered by Geoff Pesche at Abbey Road Studios. (Geoff’s CV includes: Coldplay, Kylie, Basement Jaxx, The Arctic Monkeys, The Spice Girls Plus many more...)

Last but not least it sounds better loud so turn it up!

Tim Scott - Super Postmodern Guitar Hero

Summarized Biography:

In 1992/93 Tim gained a place at the world renowned London Guitar Institute. He rapidly developed under the tutors who at that time included: Dave Kilminster (now fronting the Roger Waters Pink Floyd Band) Nick Beggs (Kajagoogoo, Sessions: Tina Turner, Marillion and Michael Bolton) John Etheridge (Nigel Kenndy).

In 2003 Tim claimed the prestigious Guitarist of the Year award.

In early 2004 Tim’s debut album ‘Bald on the Inside’ was ecstatically received by the UK Guitar press and immediately compared to the very top artists in this field with Guitarist going further by describing it as “world-class stuff...”.

Tim self released his extraordinary debut album through Borders Books & Music Stores and promoted it by playing live in stores throughout the UK which generated enough sales to send it shooting into their top 200 sellers list.

Through his contacts in the press this debut opened doors for Tim to work alongside Radio 1 DJ Judge Jules writing and playing the Spanish Classical Guitar on the track "Puesta Del Sol" for Jules’ first artist album Proven Worldwide (Maelstrom Records 2006).

This led to Tim being flown out to Ibiza to play live guitar alongside Jules’ Dirty Electro set at Judgement Sunday during the Radio 1 weekend in 2005 and 2006.

While in Ibiza Tim happened to meet producer/DJ Mike Koglin at the Radio 1 barbeque up at Jules’ Villa and subsequently they collaborated on the instrumental guitar track "Mercury" for his album VS (Noys Records 2006).

Around this time Tim also wrote and played the colossal rolling bass line for the Serial Diva remix of the One Hit Wonders single the "Grace of God" (Gusto 2006) which reached number 17 in the dance charts.

Over the last few years Tim has been hired to unleash his inspirational brand of live and improvised "Guitar Mashing" in some of the world’s most prestigious night clubs alongside some of the world’s top DJ’s including: Eden, Ibiza (Judge Jules, The Radio 1 Weekend), Pacha, London (Freemasons, Katherine Ellis), Syndicate, Blackpool (Judge Jules), Ampersand, Manchester, (Jon Fitz, The Bodyrockers, and Abigail Bailey all live on Galaxy Radio) Ministry Of Sound, London (Judge Jules)

From early 2005 Tim has been working away writing, recording and producing ideas and turning them into full blown mixed masters for his stunning second album "Guitar Mashing".

In 2009 Tim intends to turn the world to the immense potential contained within "Guitar Mashing", unlocking its earth shattering potential.
