Jennifer Watlington was born on July 26, 1949 in Reidsville, North Carolina. Her parents, Lee and Pauline Gwynn happily welcomed their first birthed child after seventeen years of marriage. Until she was born, they were happy to assist in rearing various family members.
Attending public schools in Reidsville, Jennifer graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1967. She received a BA Degree in Sociology from Livingstone College, Salisbury, North Carolina in 1971.
After working three years for the New Jersey Employment Commission in Camden, New Jersey, Jennifer returned to Reidsville in 1974 where she worked for the North Carolina Employment Security for 9 1/2 years and Rockingham Community College for 3 years. After one school year at Poplar Grove Elementary School she was employed with the US Postal Service where she has been employed for seventeen years.
A life-long member of Jerusalem United Holy Church in Reidsville, NC, she previously was a Sunday School teacher, editor of the church newsletter, Insights To Jerusalem and a member of the singing group, the Voices of Faith. Jennifer is presently a member of the Fellowship and Gospel choirs. She serves on the church Homecoming committee.
Having enjoyed writing poetry and plays for years, she has a repertoire of songs and poetry that she has written for family members as well as general subjects. She wrote her first song as a child in elementary school.
Jennifer realizes that there are many people whose talents far exceed what she is able to do, but she has come to realize that her steps have been ordered by God and no one can do what has been designed for her. Her prayer is that God be edified and His message comes through each song.
Jennifer is the mother of one son, Damon K. Watlington and the godmother ot Joe Badgett, Nneka and SSeka Settle, Michael Mcallister, Bryan Wingate and Justin Tucker.
She desires that people will listen to the words of each song because she feels that if you listen to the words, God''s love and beauty will be seen.
