Wendell Bennett was born in Detroit Michigan in 1953, which is better known as the home of (Motown Records). He started writing lyrics as early as age six.
When Wendell was a child, he knew his purpose in life and that was to make music. During the years of eleven through nineteen, Wendell spent his summer vacations in the presence of his brother-in-law, Gene Lyons, who played bass guitar in a band with Dennis Edwards on organ and lead vocals.
However, it wasn''t until July 9, 1968 when Dennis Edwards joined the Temptations, replacing the legendary, David Ruffin as lead vocalist, that Wendell became inspired to pursue a career in the music industry as a writer and a singer. Still to this day Wendell proclaimes Dennis Edwards and Gene Lyons, as his inspirations.
