MP3 We're All Broken - Campaign Moving Slow

The debut album from this New Jersey band is filled, from start to finish, with songs so angular and otherworldly that it will forever alter the course of independent music. Their songs are sliced with jaw-dropping guitars, iniquitous riff-noise, dark sce

Details:
Beginning in the fall of 1996, and formerly known as Unsound, we took shape as a band in the New Jersey and New York hardcore/punk scene of the era. Having met and befriended in high school with a common bond, we all shared a driving focus to take part in the local community and to always challenge ourselves to write the most original music we could.

In 1999 Warren took over as vocalist in our band. Warren pushes the limits on the definition of what a singer is; meshing styles of voice that make him the fifth instrument within the music. Warren fit perfectly; creatively we all strive to explore the art of song writing by experimenting and breaking boundaries. Bringing forth new ideas, perceptions and dimensions and always pushing forward is necessary. Nothing should repeat itself. There should never be a comfort zone too cozy. The subconscious is a mysterious place and harnessing its energy is how we write songs.

Playing live is such a forum for the physical expression of music and soul. The body and the mind are to do what they will in the moment, and our live sets are a testament to the connection that the songs we''ve written have to our collective spirit as a band. We started the band with the desire to play shows, meet new people and have fun; nothing much has changed to this day. Playing live allows us to deal openly with personal problems in a way that we are comfortable with. Our sound has always been a healer, most often shared with small intimate groups of understanding individuals. In essence, when an open mind is fused with the right moment one can realize things they never saw before or connect with something so deeply embedded that it erupts a new warmth.

Over the years we met so many great people, played with many of our favorite bands and always cherished the beauty of community and sharing our ideas. We have so much respect and admiration for all the people involved in underground punk rock, from the kids who book shows, rent the halls, garages, supply the basements, offer the floor to sleep on, do fanzines, do sound, sell merch, play in bands... those who come to have a good time and listen to what others have to say with open ears and understanding spirit.

Our band is a search for this ever-defining spirit that ignites us as humans but life always has this sinister way of invading this central ideal... meaningless work on the factory line invades and guides us away from our true hope and possibility... and then its money saved for nothing earned!! Cycles of work/band, work/school/band were killing us. But repetition eventually kills the liar. It is for this reason we are now a full time band doing what we always desired to do. It is the next chapter in our existence.

We''re All Broken is a new beginning. We have set out on our already established, completely independent, do-it-yourself path; releasing all our own demos, booking all our own shows, getting on compilations, etc, etc...Our mentality of complete honesty and the constant need to progress has forged new life for all of us. Through all the confusion and fear over the years, expression is the one thing that has been guiding us. We''ve come to realize that we''re all broken. And how you react is important... thought, written, spoken or sung. It''s everything.

Thanks for listening to our baggage.
