William Green is a musical artist that captures and expresses the sentiments of a generation and continuously expands his horizons to make an impact on society, by creating a union between music and life. With the roots of his talent stemming from gospel but reaching way beyond those parameters, William has torn down the barricades that continue to segregate music and society. Through his music, he has allowed different genres - be it contemporary jazz, rhythm and blues, pop or gospel - to integrate, and in the process, has given birth to a new and unique form.
From his initial entry into the musical world, a child of six, playing in his father''s church in Chicago, he began to develop his musical abilities and made it obvious to all who heard him, that his "prodigy-like" abilities were destined for greatness. His seemingly effortless abilities, flowing melodies, and signature chord structure continues to leave his audiences with a "heart-felt performance of sheer brilliance and magic".
William attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia and later continued his education at Georgia State University. But his real education began as he began to study styles of artists such as Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, and George Duke. And as these styles became more apparent, William firmly entered the musical arena as a professional musician. Since he burst onto the Atlanta scene, William has brought his charismatic charm and keyboard mastery to audiences around the world with such nationally acclaimed artists as Peabo Bryson, Cameo, Brick, Jennifer Holiday, Jean Carne, Freddie Hubbard, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, and Curtis Mayfield Most recently, William has lent his talents to two time Grammy nominee, Billboard 2003 Best Blues Artist winner, and 2004 Best Blues CD Grammy nominee, Susan Tedeschi.
Having truly mastered - and indeed redefined - musical artistry, William formed the group, "Magic Dream". Magic Dream has headlined for many nationally known artists such as Jonathan Butler and Pieces of a Dream, and has performed in such cities as Denver, New Orleans, Birmingham, and of course, Atlanta.
William''s career continues on the road of tireless and indomitable creativity. As Musical Director for Music Montaj Inc., he has used every minute to build, inspire, create and share the success of many musical achievements. With his knack, not only to create his own music, but his intrinsic ability to discover and nurture talent, William most recently teamed with Adam L. McKnight and Cody Marshall to write and co-produce Voice of Atlanta''s "Are You Listening" CD, a 2001 Grammy Award Entry for Best Gospel Choir. On this project William gets a chance to showcase his true gospel roots and talents.
