About 12 years ago, Justin Winokur noticed something. Even though he played in heavy/rock/punk/industrial bands, he always (and almost exclusively) wrote sad and beautiful love songs on his guitar. No matter what he tried to write, just about the only thing that ever came out was a sad love song. He spent years shelving these songs until he finally figured out they were there for a reason. He decided to make an album of the songs about love and dreams and time that kept spilling from his heart and lips.
He asked his musical heroes to help him make it happen, and they said yes. Justin traveled to Sweden to team with his musical hero, platinum producer Christoffer Lundquist (Brainpool, Per Gessle, Roxette, Ulf Lundell), to create "Thirteen Songs About Love," a lush, beautiful, sometimes quirky album rooted in classic pop and indie rock.
Justin is also a freelance writer and fine art photographer. His photographs are on display at various locations throughout North America. There''s also talk of a spoken-word CD sometime in the near future.
Currently Justin is traveling the United States in his Fiat, gathering stories with plans of releasing a coffee-table book with tales and photographs from the adventure.
