Details:
Clas Yngström is of Europe''s hardest working rock-blues guitarists! Since the start of his touring band - SKY HIGH, late 1978, he has toured all over the world - to this day he´s done well over 3.500 gigs - from Los Angeles in the west to Calcutta!! in the east.

Starting out in Gothenburg, on the Swedish West Coast, they soon got famous for their interpretations of the late Jimi Hendrix work. They were a big sensation at the Jimi Hendrix memorial fest at Paradiso Club, Amsterdam, 1980. After Sky High had completed their set Jimi´s original drummer Mitch Mitchell rushed to the stage to do an inspired jam with Clas Yngström and Börje Olevald, guitar & bass with Sky High. English music paper Melody Maker wrote that Sky High gave the most exciting performance at the fest!

By the time they went into the studio to record their first album in the fall of 1980, the repertoire had turned more to originals. Sky High have released 11 albums to this day, the latest one - "Bluester" was released in November. 1999. Right now the band are completing the work of what is to become a live Dvd (digital video disc) featuring a live appearance at a blues-club in their hometown of Falun, Sweden.

The late Alexis Corner, father of British Blues, presented Sky High in his national BBC Sunday blues
Show in 1982.

Sky High have shared bill with most contemporary international blues acts such as: BB King, Chuck Berry, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Winter, Taj Mahal etc...many of who, with great enthusiasm, have expressed their liking of Sky High´s performances.

In 1983 Sky High was asked by Billy Gibbons of ZZ-Top to play support on the European leg of the Eliminator tour - his management turned the idea down pointing out that Yngström, being such a heck of a guitar player, might be stealing the show!

In 1988 the band were invited by Chuck Berry´s manager Quint Davis to play the prestigious New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, this was a gesture to the band who had supported Mr. Berry during a tour in Scandinavia earlier that year. After the last gig Mr. Chuck Berry himself approached Clas Yngström, Sky High´s guitarist and singer, with a big hug! and the words: " I really love your music and you play that low down blues too!" - Clas and the rest of the band were then invited to Mr. Berry´s private dressing room for a drink and some snap shots.

That same summer they also played to their largest audience ever over in Tallin, Estonia, where Sky High rocked a roaring 300,000! blues and rock loving Sovietskys at "Glasnost Rock"!
Later that year Clas recorded an American Sky High-album in San Francisco with Prairie Prince ( from The Tubes) on drums, Ross Valory ( ex. Journey ) and Norton Buffalo ( Steve Miller Band) on harmonica. The album "Have Guitar, Will Travel" was followed by a tour of Scandinavia.

In spite of being a dedicated blues-band Sky high have had quite a bit of chart success: in 1987 the song "Don''t Move" reached to no. 6 on the Swedish national top -10 list, another hit- "I Ain''t Beggin´" peaked at number 8 in .85 - That same song was also featured in the American movie - "The American Way" starring Dennis Hopper! SKY HIGH has also had four songs featured in the Swedish film "Jägarna" (The Hunters) - seen by over 800.000 Swedes and quite a big international success!

In collaboration with legendary lyricist Pete "the poet" Brown, who wrote the lyrics for such rock classics as: "The Sunshine of Your Love" and "White Room", Sky High recorded an album -"Fat Guitar" in New Jersey -96. Mary Wilson, original member/founder of The Supremes, was invited to do two duets with Clas and one of the songs; "Little Bit Of Love" hit big on local radio throughout Scandinavia. Also guesting on the same album is English blues sax veteran Dick Heckstall-Smith ( John Mayalls Bluesbreakers, https://www.tradebit.com.) and American star horn section Uptown Horns known for their work with f.ex: The Rolling Stones.

Clas Yngström plays a battered vintage Fender Stratocaster as his main instrument, totes quite often a really wild cross between a Gibson Les Paul and a violin made out of brassplate! by Swedish metal artist Torbjörn Testad. He is arguably the very best no-nonsense straight ahead blues-rocker in Scandinavia, and a sure success at open air festivals all over the world with his firebranded dance-inducing Boogie. "The music I play is a product of everything I like" states Yngström- "for me, Jimi Hendrix is the best guitar player that ever was; Eric Clapton is of course also a hell of a player and I really dug Cream as a band! Basically, my band plays the same old simple three-or-four chords, but the blues suits me fine. It doesn''t need to be technically advanced , it has got nothing to do with that! It''s about expressing inner feelings, emotions - that''s in the essence of the Blues"
