Young Brett was born Brett Tekoa Moye on June 11,1981 in Berkeley,California. At the small age of four Young Brett was rushed to the hospital because of heart problems. Things quickly got worse, haveing to go to intensive care. Brett''s parent''s were told that he will never make it. Brett''s parent''s did not give up and knew that God would bring there son out. One day while still in the hospital Brett''s heart stop beating for close to 45 minutes and was pronouced dead. But God is good all the time. Brett''s heart started beating again and he came back alive, again God is good.
"I feel God has a big purpose for my life, that''s why he didn''t let me die that day. I believe his purpose for me is to reach out to the world with this gospel rap, and that''s what i''m going to do".
15 years later Young Brett is doing just that releasing his first album on May 4th, 2001. The album has already sold close to 1,000 copies and is still selling.
"I feel real good about the album, this is my first and i think i nailed it. It took a while to finish it up because i had no help, i payed for mostly everything myself".
You can find Young Brett performing all over California with his group In God''s Hands Family. They have performed at over 100+ churches, parks, community centers and at the Gospel Workshop Of America.
"I''m trying to take this music thing over, a lot of people think it''s weak because we say it''s gospel and don''t even give it a chance, but now if you just listen to it, you will be hooked.
