Details:
ZENEN, New York City''s trip hop, dark beat rockers have crafted a lusty and euphoric album of lo-fi loops, beautiful sounds, and powerful performances.

This audio machine created by Jesus Zenen M.(vocals/programming/synths/lyrics) features performances by Mike Grimes (guitars, programming), Mark Salsedo (bass), Peter Giannosa (drums), Tara Kijik (vocals), Candy Gemelle (vocals), and Anissa Benton (vocals). This combination of diverse genius and talent led to the formation and vibe set forth by ZENEN''s debut album, Experimental Situations.

Experimental Situations, is your passport into a cinematic, bittersweet, haunting fusion of sonic fury. Experimental Situations blurs the lines between ZENEN''s passion for extreme aggression and tripped out soundscapes. This album is bound together with dark and dynamic mood transitions, unforgettable hooks, hypnotic melodies and intense rhythms. Merging a wealth of diverse influences; trip hop, 80''s and 90''s industrial rock and an infinite spectrum of electronica. In spirit of rawness Experimental Situations was produced, engineered, and mixed by NYC based producer Nik C.

Experimental Situations aural trip begins with trip hop, lo-fi spooker "How Could I Feel" in which vocalist Jesus M. shifts between quasi-spoken word and sensuous performance while long time collaborator, vocalist Tara Kijik. willows over a cinematic composition of degenerated beats and detuned chord structure. In the cold and dense "Tundra", Jesus Martinez screams ... "Its like a sad, sad movie" filling choruses walled with thick guitars, and eerie organ grindings. This apocalyptic haiku is driven by stabs of sitar samples, arpeggiatic pulses and rolling percussion. The album''s heart pumper, "Mr. Magic" comes at you with a curtain of overdriven processed guitars, intricately programmed analog melodies, and thriving distorted breakbeats for a high octane rush to your brain. This song hits like a locomotive, infects like a potion and leaves your ears begging for more. The twisted ballad "Bullmake Sympathy," the sparse "ESP," and the bottom heavy "Dives," feature guest vocalist Candy Gemelle belting and blissing with a Fiona Apple like angst adding an ominous and sexual tinge to the album.

As we near the end of our journey, gospel/r&b songstress Anissa Benton graces us with an icy, Eartha Kitt-like crooning sensation to the creeping, durge metal duet "Dead In The Eyes." The albums finale, "Black Coffee" layers electric beats, atmospheric guitars with mechanical loops and wanders into an acappella ending that offers a smooth closure to this experience called Experimental Situations.

Lush and intriguing, ZENEN''s Experimental Situations ushers you into a dark, sexy, and emotional realm which renders to most rock and electronic null and void. Listen now.
