States Of Mind is ZENEN''s stunning follow up to their 2002 debut Experimental Situations. On this album spearhead producer and writer Jesus Zenen M. dove deeper into the drum machines and studio equipment and crafted an album with a whole new group of collaborators from the NYC underground. This album crosses genres and borders while keeping a stong hold on a unique blend of sensuality and aggression. The album begins with Shut Eye, a song fueled with bass driven synthesis and the paranoid vocals of Jesus M.. Ancient Anonymous follows with a stunning performance by Jessica Keuskamp who''s voice hovers over the drones, machine noises and degenerated strings that accompany your deepest of dreams. On 100 Jesus M. and Katie Entigar''s vocals speak to you and pull you into their nightmare in the skies as they recite and contemplate beauty of fallen angels and dispair to the techno mayhem and corrosive voices that surround this pulsing track. Clara Sofie Fabricius''s vocals grasp your every emotion on the haunting Sufferings and get you ready for the storm that follows. On the abrasive and industrial Losing It, synth stabs wail, melotron choirs dominate and Jesus M. vocals make you sing along to chorus. The damaging and psychological Blisters drills its way to the center of your head and pushes pins in the wrong places while providing you pleasurable dub bass and ragga beats for your demise. As you near the end of this experience Hide Beneath gently approaches your senses and holds your hand through the melancholic melodies sung by Jessica Keuskamp.
