This is the album that wasn''t going to happen! After six albums, I thought it was time to quit. But the songs came and they needed to be shared. This is the Mystery is my diary. It is another leg of the journey I am on. Here are a few insights into this journey of song.
"Anti Gravity" is my attempt to describe what it feels like to really experience forgiveness. Like sheets on the line on a prairie windy day, like falling in love, like spring after a long Canadian winter.
The older I get, the more I realize that I don''t understand about God and His ways. Forgiveness, freedom, grace, abundant life.....I just can''t give the pat answers I used to. "This is the Mystery". Hurray for the mystery!
"Everything Passes" so I need to be able to let go of the grip I want to have on my life and my plans.
The need for rain, whether physically or spiritually, is the metaphor for the exquisite little celtic song "Rain Upon the Roof."
Lessons learned so often come with painful and humbling experiences. "Teach Me What I Need to Know" is a prayer that I would learn from those experiences, and that I would always be teachable.
Is is possible to have joy in the midst of pain? I believe it is. Joy is There is based on a traditional Irish blessing. If we are in Christ he gives us the ability to find the joy in everything.
The liturgy of the Church throughout history, is the inspiration for "You Have Opened Heaven." It is song of confession and worship.
"God of the Hollow Fifths" comes out of the dark times. How do we make sense of suffering? I don''t believe we always can, but we can always run to the Master Planner, who loves us throughout our times of doubt and question.
So know you know the truth! I constantly have to deal with stress in my life. The song "Think On Beautiful" reminds me (and maybe you too) to take my thoughts captive and give them to Christ that I might remain in His peace.
"Around this Table" celebrates the family.... and family gatherings. Until we can gather around the heavenly table where no one will ever leave. This one is a lot of fun.
As I look back on the years of raising and homeschooling my children, I want to encourage parents to know that their time and sacrifice for their children will truly "Make a Difference". This song still makes me cry.
"I Run to You" is my very personal response to the tsunami disaster of December, 2004.
