In 2002 a CD "Ride The Waves" was released which contained incidental music that Ewald Kegel had been recording for audiovisual productions between 1990 en 2000. The CD has been out of print for several years.
Now these songs will be soon available through iTunes through a virtual album dubbed, "Ride The Waves 2009 reissue". Yet this album is not a simple copy of the previous physical CD. There are many new tracks included both from the period before 1990 as well as newly recorded material.
Striking examples of the new selections are:
"Springtime Waltz" and "Slow slippery"
both these tracks were recorded around 1985/ 1986 and mark the very first compositions that Ewald recorded for audiovisual production. The tracks were copied from the original tapes and remixed, edited and remastered with modern 2009 technology with astonishing results.
"Opus No. 1"
one of Ewald''s first ventures in the world of classical music. This track was a long time not ready for release due to the state of the original tapes. But with the help of advanced technology the song can now first the time be presented in its original state to a large audience.
"The Leaf"
(which can also be heard as a track in Ewald''s Myspace profile) has a long history. It started in 2004 as a piano oriented peace, but was one year later re-recorded as a much more experimental track. In 2009 the piece was again worked on, this time adding classical guitar. The track as presented was remixed, edited and remastered specially for this album.
