Nestled in the foothills of the Quachita (wash-i-ta) Mountains lies the sleepy little town of Mena, Arkansas.
The music that BJ Dowdy has put on this album represents the country setting of rural America and is done with a flavor that should please most everyone.
The mix of Blue-Grass to just plain zany songs is captured from life experiences.
Bobby Jack as friends usually call him is a native Arkansan but spent a good portion of his life outside of the state of Arkansas.
His wife Wanda is also a native Arkansan and her loyalty has helped B.J.
in all of his endeavors that ranged from operating two airports to a business in Wyoming that lasted 30 years.
B.J. has always been interested in music and while operating the airport in Springhill, Louisiana; he got to know a swell guy by the name of Joe Stamply.
Joe was still in the rock & roll business and had a band called (The Uniques) but was wanting to change over to straight Country.
During the transition form rock to country B.J. flew Joe to several recording studios including some in Nashville and one in Muscle Shoals, Louisiana.
It was a rough road for Mr. Stamply but patience paid off and the rest is country music history.
During this time in Louisiana B.J. had the opportunity to rub shoulders with a lot of talent and was able to perform on stage with some real neat country performers.
Since moving back to Mena, B.J. decided to do something he always wanted to do and that was to build a recording studio that he could walk from his living room into the studio and B&W records was born.
B.J. spends most of his time in the studio, and playing local events and his band "Mountain Bluegrass" stays pretty busy locally.
