HEY TO ALL YA''LL OUT THERE,
I really don''t have a southern draw but that would be cool huh? Well this is the Bio section as most of you already know. I do things a little differently though. Most artists would give a very professional bio that they had someone else write about them and or, they wrote it themselves and made it sound like someone else wrote it about them to make themselves sound good. Confusing? Well it confused me writing it so I don''t even play those games. I''m going to serve you up a bio straight from me about me. That way if someone complains about the bio suckin, they can come straight to me! So here goes nothing.
My full name is Blake Aaron Guthrie. I grew up out in the middle of nowhere Kansas, also known as Great Bend. Many nights were spent cow tipping, lighting old couches on fire at the local thrift store and riding on the hood of a car going 60 miles an hour down a dirt road. You know normal things that everyday kids seem to do. (I know all you small town kids know exactly what I''m talking about!)
I have always had a great respect for music. I have grown up doing music since........well I can''t even remember. I know my first gig was when I was 4. And no I didn''t know what a gig was when I was 4 but we can pretend!? Anyways I ended up singing with my 2 older brothers in church. The only way I had been talked into doing it was because my mom had bribed us with BURGER KING, if we would get up on stage and sing a song. And no little kid in his right mind will turn down Burger King! So none the less, I did it without hesitation because what can I say? I''m a sucker for play places! Those ball pits were freaking awesome for having wrestling matches! But that is all beside the point. I started playing the drums also at a very young age. Man I could beat the junk out of those things. I played enough that eventually I got asked to play in a band when I was in about the 6th grade. So it wasn''t so much a band, and I didn''t so much get asked. What really happened was my brothers played in the church youth group and they lost a drummer so the ordered me to play. I like the other story better though.
Anyways, I continued singing with my brothers in church to keep mom happy but after a while I started to enjoy it! I had always loved to sing but it''s hard to do that and play the drums. So about my junior/senior year of high school I started plucking on the guitar. I played all sports through middle school and high school but I lost the drive to play them once I started playing the guitar. It became an addiction for me. The more I played the more I wanted to keep playing. After a while I wanted to start writing my own stuff. I figured most songs were about bad relationships and what not and I had my fair share of those, so I figured "Why not?", and started to write.
I started to write about all the things I was dealing with inside that I never really told anyone about. Most of the troubles I dealt with as many people do are ups and downs of relationships. You become so vulnerable to that other person when you decide to start "dating." The more I tried to show love, the more it blew up in my face. On the outside it I seemed to have a perfect life but inside I felt so empty. One day it all just blew up and I was sick of trying to pretend to be someone else and sick of opening my heart to people and have them walk all over it. I knew there had to be more to life. I had grew up in church but I had become numb to that. I thought everyone was just a hypocrite so I could care less about church. By the end of my senior year I met a guy who gave me hope. He told be about Jesus and the love and hope that he could give. At first I didn''t want to hear it but the more I hung out with that guy the more I wanted to know. He was always so happy, no matter what was going on! I wanted that. I found a hope and a friendship in Christ that was beyond anything I had known before. I didn''t have to worry about getting my heart broke anymore.
So that is a summed up version of why I do what I do. I want to give people hope in a crappy, dark world. I want to write songs that will lift people up instead of tear them down. There is hope even in the darkest of times. I hope you enjoy the music that I am creating and thank you for taking the time to read this NOVEL! Take care and keep on rocking in the free world!
Your boy next door,
Blake Aaron
