Dear interested minds,
I hope you all have listened to the BRAINS[ON]TAP LP (or at least samples of it) and enjoy it. It takes a rare pair of ears to appreciate the sound of something different, especially when you''ve had many crappy "radio hits" shoved down your throat for so long. I truly appreciate the abstract...something that requires interpretation. If anything is given to you on a silver platter then it never means as much as something you have to put effort into...it just tastes sweeter when topped with victory or achievement...it is yours...it means something special to you and you only.
When I graduated from college I bought two things with the money I received...a new acoustic guitar and a stack of studio equipment. It was with these two things that I recorded the BRAINS[ON]TAP LP with Charles T. I tinkered with these recordings for months and months trying to make it sound unique yet raw. The "Raw Power" album by the Stooges is one of my favorite albums. The title totally encompasses what it is...RAW POWER. It is imperfectly perfect. (By the way, I am not comparing RAW POWER to the BRAINS[ON]TAP LP. They sound nothing alike musically or mix wise. They are only similar in rawness). A fancy producer or sound engineer will tell you that the mix is horrible but that''s what gives it it''s character. It is a captured moment in time and that is impossible to reproduce no matter how much money you put into studio equipment. It is what it is...perfectly imperfect.
The BRAINS[ON]TAP LP isn''t perfect by any means, but what is? I do believe with 100% of my entire being, heart and soul, that it is an original strike at a flooded and sludge-filled market where popular bands simply copy their favorite band. If that record sounds copied from anyone else my email address is guitarcarr@https://www.tradebit.com, tell me about it. I have yet to hear anyone say this album sounds like some other artist without tacking on "kind of..". Also I have yet to find a secure genre for it.
But with all that said I am the first person on this planet that will tell you that the BRAINS[ON]TAP LP is a strange record. Although it just requires two things to appreciate it: an open mind and a chance. So if you have a copy (or a copy of a copy) we hope you enjoy it and remember what we tried to do when we weren''t supposed to.

Ericulus the Ridiculous
THE HISTORY OF BRAINS[ON]TAP
In 1999, Ericulus the Ridiculous (guitars, vocals, aural landscaping) and Charles T. (bass, vocals), started writing original songs while kicking it after work. Soon they recruited a drummer, formed a group, and were ready to persue their dreams or at least express their ideas. The power trio formed by the duo, later dubbed "BRAINWASHINGMACHINE", was a hard rocking power trio that provided heavy bass, pounding drums, and distorted electric guitar. Ericulus and Charles T. practiced and played as BRAINWASHINGMACHINE with several uncommited drummers that eventually fell wayside from lack of focus and drive, but the two persisted. BRAINWASHINGMACHINE played several shows throughout 2003, the trio far exceeded goals they set for themselves. But stress, conflicting views, and tensions within the band came to a climax in mid-December 2003 and BRAINWASHINGMACHINE went on temporary hiatus. Unfortunately, this hiatus became definite as 2004 arrived, leaving all three members frustrated and concerned about their musical futures.
Ericulus decided to put some of his graduation money toward a brand new acoustic guitar. The purchase brought about a resurgance of interest in his favorite instrument and Ericulus proceeded to translate BRAINWASHINGMACHINE''s songs to acoustic guitar. This provided an original rawness to the songs as well as add a folk and soul mix to the overall sound. The vocals were redeveloped into more harmonious tones yet the music kept it''s punk-metal attitude. It wasn''t long before Ericulus was calling Charles T. to share this new twist on old friends.
The only thing left to do at this point was the hair pulling task of picking a bandname. While bar-hopping one night, Eric was explaining some interesting ideas with a close friend and this friend asked him, "Where do these crazy ideas (you are always coming up with) come from?". This question reached his ears as he was glaring at a bartender pouring his beer from a nearby tap. "They flow out of my brain like beer from a tap" he quipped, and from that response another crazy idea was created. Why not call this band BRAINS ON TAP, with that idea the final cog was put in place and into motion. Within the month, Eric had spent his savings, purchasing recording equipment and the two began a slow process of recording sessions. These sessions created a live recording that the band distributed at all of their shows for free called the FREEBIE FRISBEE.
The words and music of BRAINS ON TAP spread stealthly and quickly in the area. This encouraged the duo to start recording their first full-length LP. After about seven months of careful recording, editing, and mastering, BRAINS ON TAP had their first album complete. Ready for release with 74 minutes of original music and bonus tracks, what could be a better title for their first album than "BRAINS ON TAP"?
