Hi. Thanks for checking out my music! I''m Jorie. Here are some things about me. I grew up loving music and playing the piano we had in our house. I would sing and play and make up songs all the time, often putting on performances for my family members. I loved going to shows and concerts, I would leave each one with the thought in my little mind "I want to do that, too!" I was so inspired every time I saw someone sing or play an instrument or dance on a stage. Eventually I got through my school years and started a job at a church. This was a new, exciting opportunity for me because I was actually getting paid to play music! I still love writing songs. I usually just sit down and play something new and hum along and add in the lyrics as they come to me.
My husband Matt and I just finished making a new album called "Songs of Deliverance." In the last few years I have been through some ups and downs and these songs were all written during those mountains and valleys. As I have been going through these times of discouragement, happiness, joy, disappointment, depression, hope, I started to learn that I can choose thankfulness and victory in the midst of even the darkest of circumstances. The first key I learned to this is to worship and trust my God no matter how I feel. He is good and His love never fails. I may not understand what is going on at the time but I have no reason to wrestle Him or fear the future He is leading me into. These song lyrics reflect things I started to learn and believe on a deeper level through this part of the journey . . . .
I have another album from a few years ago called "The Real Living God." When I wrote these songs I was thinking about how my desire to know Jesus and worship Him didn''t always seem to fit in with what others at the church I was part of said or did. I was picking up on this common approach people seemed to be taking which was to say and do the right things and make sure they kept up the right appearances. I was more interested in being honest and putting it all out there and worshiping the God who loves me. I wanted to know the real, living God . . . .
