Details:
Youth, young adults, parents - WOW! Something for everyone! A moving, powerful collection of songs (some are prayers put to music) about the challenges each person finds in their daily life. Rich in both melody and message, these songs give the listener profound and pleasant music to enjoy. Half acoustic and half light rock, it is a style of music pleasing to all age groups.

The music that singer/songwriter Michael Capone performs on his new release is unequivocally unique. Although he has performed on other albums, he unhesitatingly calls this his "first." Work on this first album began after the artist realized there was no music available in the English language and in the American style that possessed the positive strength he believed should be present in the industry. If his audience is any indication, he has undoubtedly found the strength he was seeking.

With no marketing plan, no sales outlets, and no employed helpers, "Light for the Journey" went international the same day the songwriter took possession of his first inventory of CDs. Michael shares amazedly, "While I was sitting at home wondering what to do next, my album was circling the globe. People would buy one and then, some days later, ask for 10 or 15 more. The first week the CD was available, one man ordered 60 to send to his friends. Also the same month, I booked a concert tour in South America, a second in Mexico, and a third (tentative) in Canada. The response has left me in awe."

Through various inspirations, the composer has synthesized years of study, observation and experience into songs that are tremendously beneficial to his audience. These are songs that touch the deepest fibers of the human heart. Capone, who has performed for more than two decades, brings that experience to create "Light for the Journey," a repertory of songs of incredible depth, from fun and upbeat to profoundly contemplative.

The following is a song-by-song review of the album:

1) JOSEPH''S PRAYER
This is a prayer of St Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus. The words of the prayer come from a book entitled "The Life of Saint Joseph" and was penned by an 18th century mystic named Maria Baij. Put to song in a light rock style (preserving a reverence appropriate to the lyrics), this prayer helps one to ponder humanity, the awesomeness of God, and what is an appropriate response to such goodness and love.

2) ALL I CAN
A prayer to Holy Mary, the Mother of Jesus, translated from the original prayer written by Luis Fernando Figari, the Founder of the pontifically approved Sodalitium Cristianae Vitae whose spirituality is practiced by members of the Christian Life Movement. Also known as the ‘Fiat Prayer'', this simple acoustic song of guitar and vocal ask for the intercession of Mary so that one can fulfill his or her life, doing one''s best with all that God has given. Dynamically impressive, the vocal proceeds from almost a whisper to an all-out 100% gift of self.

3) MISSION & DECISION
Wow! If you haven''t figured out your vocation yet - whether it''s to marriage, priesthood, religious life, consecrated life, or a noble task - hang on to your seat! This song leaves those who haven''t discovered God''s call speechlessly introspective. Done in a catchy rock style, the lyrics explore a bit of ‘Who is man?'' and ‘What should he be doing while he''s here?''

4) OLDER
Do you ever think you''re young, but you''re really kind of old? Have you found the wisdom that is suitable for your years? This comical tune explores ideas like these. It''s funny, but firm.

5) WHAT SHOULD I DO
Truly the catchiest tune on the album delivered like some of the best classic rock music of American history, this song looks at one man''s life and how he responds to the question every human being comes to ask himself, "What should I do with my life?" It''s a dynamic and entertaining song.

6) A FATHER''S JOY
The joys of parenthood are reflected in this warm, acoustic song as we experience, through a father''s eyes, his relationship with his very young son. Parents of grown children delight in the memories which are stirred up, new parents cry tears of joy as they reflect on the beauty which they are now experiencing with their young one(s), and those who think they will one day be parents take a glimpse into the future. Vocals and lyrics are tender and full of love.

7) EVANGELIZE
Two things make this song a favorite for many. First, it has a clean rock & roll style reminiscent of the 50s & 60s. Second, the down to earth vocal line explains what it means to evangelize in layman''s terms. It is an entertaining and even comical way to explore the idea of evangelizing in today''s world.

8) HOW MANY CHILDREN
Possibly this song is the most powerful song on the album. It asks a question that has a very specific answer, one of particular importance to married persons or those who are called to marriage. Answering rightly is extremely important because of the grave consequences for answering wrongly. "How many children does God want?" Clearly life promoting, this song enters the day-to-day life of a man continually challenged by those in the cultural mainstream who don''t seem to share his love for children nor understand the gravity of their decisions against new human life.

9) LIGHT FOR THE JOURNEY
Rich in its symbolism, the title track was inspired from a prayer by Luis Fernando Figari (see Track 2) asking for Holy Mary''s intercession. It is musically rich as well. Violin and guitar enter with a rendition of the ‘Ave Maria'' when suddenly ‘Light for the Journey'' bursts forth with its driving rhythm from the guitar and percussion. An impressive dynamic range vocally, the melody and lyrics display the darkness of our world contrasted with the light that comes from Christ and is reflected so well by his Holy Mother.

10) WELCOME TO THE WORLD
Warm and tender, deeply insightful and profound, a father singing to his newborn child, describing what the world is truly like and powerfully conveying the hopes he has for his child for his/her earthly life and for eternity. Inspired by the Vatican II Council document "Gadium et Spes", this song delightfully communicates some of the beauty of Vatican II''s writings in a fantastically pro-life context of the birth and welcoming of a new human life to the world.
