Details:
Connie Howard is a Nashville-based singer/songwriter who writes songs she hopes will someday considered "standards." Songs with melodies that stick in your head and lyrics that stick in your heart. Her song "Feel" has just won the Grand Prize in the Nashville Songwriters Association (NSAI) song contest out of over 1,500 applicants. In addition to performing her own material and independently releasing two CDs, Connie pitches her songs to other recording artists. Check out her website to learn about the newest artists who will be covering her tunes!

A native of Old Lyme, Connecticut, Connie was competing in national accordion competitions by the age of seven and learning the piano sitting on her Grandfather''s knee. She began studying the piano formally at age 11 with Ward Davenny at Yale Music School. College called her west and she graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in Political Science and International Relations.

After graduation she headed to Prague in the Czech Republic to teach English for the summer and then to her first job in the ''real world'' - playing the piano and singing at Le Café du Cours in Aix-en-Provence, France. Here Connie honed her performance skills playing 5 nights a week. Living in a part of the world that has long inspired creative souls such as van Gogh and Cezanne, she spent her days learning French and writing songs.

A year later Connie moved to New York City and kept music in her life despite a demanding job at the Union Bank of Switzerland. Still she managed to perform three times a week at The Broadway Grill in Times Square, singing Broadway hits and accompanying other singers on the piano. She was the keyboardist and Musical Director for numerous Off-Broadway productions and performed her original songs in cabarets and songwriter venues such as The Bitter End, The Dark Star Lounge and Eureka Joe.

While in New York City Connie released her first album on the indie label, Wingin'' It Records. The album was co-produced by Mark Secrest and was her first official foray into the music industry. Realizing that songwriting was her true passion, Connie moved to Nashville, TN in the fall of 1999.

In addition to writing and performing, Connie teaches piano both privately and as a volunteer at the W.O. Smith Music School, a non-profit music school for low-income children. Her award winning song "Feel" is the title track of her new CD, Collage: A Collection of Demos.
