In most cases CRAZY MARY is some insane woman at the center of a deranged folklore. In this case, CRAZY MARY is guitarist CHARLES KIBEL, bassist GEORGE KEREZMAN, drummer NICK RAISZ and vocalist SOPHIA JACKSON.

March 2001 finds CRAZY MARY hard at work on their next album, "BURNING INTO THE SPIRIT WORLD", which the band feels is their strongest effort to date. The record will be released in the beginning of May and is destined to be another college radio smash.

CRAZY MARY''s third release, "ASTRONAUT DUBS"(Humsting Records 2000)) is currently riding the college radio charts. It''s featured on over 360 stations and charting on 27 stations top 30. Johnny Thunders, (Radioactive Dub) was featured in February on the nationally syndicated Spin College Radio, and also appeared on CMJ''s (College Music Journal) compilation "Certain Damage" vol. 114.
CRAZY MARY''s second recording called "SHE COMES IN WAVES" (Humsting Records 1999) charted on CMJ''s top 20 adds despite a busy week of 63 CD''s going for adds. It has been played on over 370 stations and charted on 40 stations top 30 as reported to CMJ. In addition, the title track will appear on CMJ''s "Certain Damage" vol.109. Tracks from this release have been played on the prestigious "Idiot''s Delight" radio show, hosted by legendary DJ, Vin Scelsa.
on commercial radio station WNEW FM, New York, The band''s first release "PASSION PIT" (Humsting Records 1998) was played on 350 radio stations across the country, 30 of which reported the CD on their top 30 playlist.
CRAZY MARY gigs at many New York City clubs including The Mercury Lounge, Coney Island High, Luna Lounge, Arlene Grocery, The Elbow Room, and Acme Underground, as well as at Washington, D.C.''s Metro Café, and Philadelphia''s Pontiac Bar. The band was one of only 200 selected to showcase NEMO 99 (New England Music Organization) in Boston. Reviews of the band have been published in The Village Voice, The New York Press, and The Boston Globe. CRAZY MARY''s style of urban hallucinogenic music was described by Ralph White in The New York Press as "Hip and crazy get down on your knees voodoo dancing. Here comes the band that puts the twang back in your steps."
